Cody Burns...Who's Your Daddy?

Cody Burns...Who's Your Daddy?

Posted: Sep 5th 2013 By: CMBurnham

Family affairs should never be brought into public. But that appears to be the end result of a recent revelation by SRPW United States Champion Cody Burns.

Burns was challenged this past Saturday by Dexter Hardaway. Hardaway had already competed in one match that evening, losing to SRPW Womens Champion Matt Majestic. Hardaway declared to the crowd that the earlier match should not have happened. He did not come to SRPW to compete against Majestic. He came because he had heard about Cody Burns. Hardaway acknowledged that SRPW commissioner Bobby Burns had taught him how to fight, but also pointed out that he had put Burns on his back many times. He made it very clear that he intended to embarrass Burns by defeating Cody and becoming #1 contender to his title. Bobby was irate after Dexter finished speaking and snatch the mic, declaring that he would gladly beat Dexter down himself, but since Dexter wanted Cody, as commissioner he would grant that wish.

It was certainly one of the most challenging match Cody (who is undefeated in SRPW) has had. The experience Dexter brought certainly forced Cody to step his game up. But the SRPW United States Champion was up to the test and put Dexter down with a Sidewinder. That did not seem to be enough for Cody as he refused to take the pin and picked Hardaway up for a second Sidewinder. That was the end for Hardaway, but just the beginning for Cody.

Cody took the microphone and said that he had been very frustrated the past few weeks. Many fans had been asking him about the contents of the letter he received. Cody revealed that the letter contained evidence that Bobby Burns may not be Cody's father. Cody said he wanted a DNA test to confirm the evidence. If it proved Burns was his father, that was fine. If it proved he was not, he would go on alone. With those words, Burns exited the ring. Bobby Burns stood stunned, then announced an apology to the crowd, saying that he loved Cody no matter what the results of the test were.

All of this behaviour on the part of Cody Burns is rather shocking, but Burns has been competing under aliases like Kris Cruz in other federations, perhaps preparing for the result of the paternity test. As yet, no results from the test have been announced, nor has Maury Povich been booked at a future SRPW event.
