Johnny Z Uses Brains (And Convict's Brawn) To Retain Title
Posted: Aug 22nd 2013 By: CMBurnham
Many wrestlers put tremendous amounts of effort into their bodies. But the most dangerous ones make sure to develop their minds.
MSWA Mid-South and IZW Champion Johnny Z is certainly one of the most dangerous men in wrestling.
For someone to have survived for almost 12 years as a wrestler, a promoter and an owner, one has to be on top of his game. But for someone to constantly pull out the unexpected...that is a sign of genius in the wrestling world.
And that is what allowed Johnny Z to retain his MSWA Mid-South title.
Double D had challenged Johnny Z to a Steel Cage Match, one of the most devastating matches in wrestling. This was done mostly because Johnny kept finding ways to evade matches or allow his fellow Impact, Inc. members to assist him in retaining the title.
So Double D was certain that this was the solution. With Johnny Z trapped, there would be no way to avoid defeat. D prepared. He trained. He made a game plan.
And still, Johnny was ready. And had a secret weapon.
When both men entered the ring, D took the battle to Z. He knew he had the best chance ever to put Z away and win back his title. But no matter what D did, he did not seem to be able to keep Z down for a 3 count.
Jermaine Johnson & Jordan Jacobs tried to assist by coming down cutting off the chain securing the cage door. Before they could enter, they were chased off by MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champions The Syndicate. And D kept focused, believing he could do it.
And that was when the trump card was played by Johnny Z. To the astonishment of everyone, The Convict strode down the aisle, shoved referee Chance Snodgrass to the floor, ripped the door to the cage off its hinges, entered the cage and delivered the 15-to-20 to Double D. All that was left was for Johnny Z to walk out of the cage and retain his title.
As Z and the Convict joined their Impact, Inc. brethren, the look of despair on the face of Double D told the story. Once again, he had been outsmarted and defeated. It was the worst feeling ever.
