Jack Swagger: The Only Wrong Choice to Win the World Title Money in the Bank

Jack Swagger should not win Money in the Bank for the second time in his career, as he is the only WWE Superstar in that match who would be considered poor booking.

Swagger won Money in the Bank at WrestleMania XXVI, but his career went downhill after losing the World Heavyweight title. He was demoted to jobber until taking a break a year ago.

When he returned, he was pushed once again and won the Elimination Chamber match for an opportunity to challenge Alberto Del Rio for the World Title at WrestleMania 29. With the addition of Zeb Colter, his character has improved, but all of the other candidates in this year?s World Heavyweight title Money in the Bank ladder match deserve the win more.

Wade Barrett was rumored to be the favorite to win Money in the Bank at WrestleMania 28, but those plans changed when he was injured in March 2012.

When he did return and began the Barrett Barrage, the former Intercontinental Champion was pushed to the top of the midcard until he fell for the recent poor booking of midcard champions. Now that he is healthy, WWE may look to push him to the main event. He was impressive in NXT season one and as the leader of the Nexus group. Barrett has shown qualities of leadership and potential to be a main event Superstar.

Cody Rhodes was someone who could have won Money in the Bank last year instead of Dolph Ziggler. Rhodes has recently lost the Intercontinental title, a championship that he helped raise to a level of prestige. Rhodes? best gimmick was as the midcard champion with a mask.

He showed great mic work and was arguably one of the top heels of the SmackDown brand. However, instead of pushing Rhodes more, he was demoted to jobber and tag team specialist. Even in the tag team with Damien Sandow, Rhodes has not found much success.

The son of Dusty Rhodes deserves better than this.

Speaking of Sandow, the Intellectual Savior of the Masses is another Superstar more deserving of a win at Money in the Bank than Swagger. Unlike the Real American, Sandow does most of the talking in his feuds.

His mic work has been among the best in the company aside from CM Punk and Paul Heyman. Sandow?s own rendition of Randy Orton?s entrance music, interactions with the WWE Universe and catchphrase ?You?re Welcome? show him to be a well-rounded Superstar. Sandow has also suffered from being a part of Team Rhodes Scholars, but that can change at Money in the Bank this year.

Antonio Cesaro was a fresh, new Superstar when he ended Santino Marella?s reign as United States Champion at SummerSlam last year. Cesaro had an impressive run with the title until he suddenly dropped it to Kofi Kingston on the April 15 edition of Raw.

Cesaro looked to be demoted to a jobber until he was paired up with Swagger?s manager Colter. It will be interesting to see the dynamic between Swagger and Cesaro as one must wonder whom will Colter be supporting more. Cesaro has a lot more potential than Swagger though, as his strength and wresting move arsenal has been very impressive.

Perhaps all Cesaro needed to reach the main event was someone like Colter.

Dean Ambrose must be a favorite to win the Money in the Bank briefcase because he is a member of the most dominant faction in WWE today, the Shield. Ambrose has shown signs of great mic work, in-ring ability and the ?it? factor.

While Kingston was a transitional United States champion, WWE was merely moving the title over to Ambrose. The new champion may not need Money in the Bank to be relevant in the WWE, but one must wonder how much more dominant the Shield would be with a World Title.

Fandango may be a questionable win over Swagger here, but would you have said the same if he didn?t suffer from a concussion?

The dancing heel was the talk of the town around WrestleMania time. Especially with the WWE Universe?s reaction to his entrance music on Raw the night after WrestleMania 29. It seemed as though Fandango was in line for a midcard title until he suffered his injury. When Kingston won the U.S. title, Fandango was a potential candidate to win.

However, WWE had originally booked Fandango to be in the Intercontinental championship triple-threat match with Barrett and the Miz at Payback. Of course, Curtis Axel took his spot and the title.

No matter how you look at it, every Superstar aside from Swagger has the potential to be a future World Champion. Swagger had his turn three years ago and provided a weak title reign. He received another opportunity this year, but messed up again when he was arrested.

As long as Swagger doesn?t win, a good case could be made for the WWE Creative Team?s booking decision. If Swagger does win, it will be shocking and a huge mistake. Barrett, Rhodes, Sandow, Fandango, Cesaro and Ambrose are all deserving.

One of them should win at Money in the Bank.
