Champions Overcome Handicaps To Retain Titles In All-Or-Nothing Match

The pinnacle of any wrestler is to become a champion. And there is something extra exciting to a fan to witness a title change firsthand.
So just imagine witnessing 3 title changes on one show? And then imagine all 3 changing hands in ONE match?
Those were the stakes for UWE United States Champion Tim Rockwell, UWE Tag Team Champions Nasty Swag and UWE Champion Anarchy 2nd as they put their titles on the line against Daemon Storm, The K. C. Wolves and The Mercenary in a Winner-Takes-All Elimination Match.
And it appeared on the day of the show that the championship team would be at a disadvantage going in. The previous month, Nasty Swag and The K. C. Wolves, along with The Static Knights, had faced off in a Triple Threat Ladder Match for the UWE Tag Team Titles. Everyone involved in that match suffered some injuries and according to a Facebook video posted by Ace Archuleta, his doctor would not clear him to compete. This seemed to put the championship team one man up, but that did not last long as Anarchy and his associate Zakk Sinizter attacked The Mercenary at the beginning of the show. Anarchy put Mercenary in a Figure-4 while Sinizter stomped the prone body of the former UWE Champion. Assistance finally came from the back, but it seemed to be too late as Mercenary had to be helped from the ring, unable to put too much weight on the injured leg.
So when it came time for the main event, it was now a 3-on-3 match. The challengers had lost their most powerful member while the championship team was missing its purest athlete. The remaining members were all the more focused to win the match and walk away with all the gold.
Daemon Storm was the first eliminated as he fell victim to Tim Rockwell's Texas Cloverleaf DDT. This put the challenging team down to just 2 members. Fortunately for them, it was a pair that was accustomed to working together. Sadly, that did not help as much as one might expect as Robert Lee used a Spinwheel Kick (and some extra leverage from the ropes) to pin Graham Bell. This left Luke Langley against all three members of the championship team. An uphill climb, to be certain. And one of almost insurmountable odds. But Luke did not back down and was able to take Lee out of the match before falling to another Grapevine DDT from Rockwell. The bell rang and the two singles champions stood apparently victorious in the ring.
But then Mercenary arrived from the back, still feeling the injuries from the earlier attack, and made his way to the ring. All 3 members of the championship team attacked Mercenary, but eventually the match resumed and Mercenary faced off against two men. It appeared that the big man was going to overcome the odds as he put Tim Rockwell away with the Bounced Check. But as the referee dealt with removing Rockwell from the ring area, Zakk Sinizter once again made his presence known. When Mercenary picked up Anarchy for another Bounced Check, Sinizter kicked Anarchy in the back. The power, combined with the injury to the leg of Mercenary, toppled the large competitor. The referee then made it back in and counted three. Anarchy was the sole survivor and all champions retained their titles.
Anarchy was successful in this outing, but it may not be as easy for him in the near future. On July 13th, every member of the UWE roster will compete in the Sooner Stampede and the winner will challenge for the UWE Title in the main event of Showdown in October.
