Buck Robley, died earlier this morning after a battle with cancer.

Robley worked initially in the Carolinas, Amarillo and Louisiana territories. He was nicknamed "Yellow Belly" because he played a cowardous heel. He wore a yellow shirt that said "Don't Call Me Yellow".

He then moved from wrestler to manager in the Amarillo promotion where he managed Lorenzo Parente and Bobby Hart.

But Robley was best known as Bill Watts's booker in Mid South Wrestling in its glory days when the The Freebirds and Junkyard Dog, including booking the infamous angle with the Fabulous Freebirds where they blinded Junkyard Dog with "Freebird hair removal cream".

As part of the angle, when JYD was selling his "blindness" JYD's wife gave birth in real life to their first child. The storyline said that JYD "could not see his new daughter". As a result, The Freebirds required police escorts to and from venues. The blowoff saw "blind" JYD and Michael Hayes wrestling in a dog collar match. The event drew $28,000 to the New Orleans Superdome show.
