Don't Push Me Around! Referee of the Year Demands Respect!
Posted: Mar 13th 2007 By: CMBurnham
He's short. He wears thick glasses. And he's the authourity in the ring. When the 2006 Oklafan Referee of the year, Rob Justice, was called to take charge of the action during some of the matches at the JCW event in Oklahoma City on Friday, he had no idea what he was stepping into. But he certainly sent a message to the JCW Champion that he was not to be messed with.
Mr. Justice got a bit of a rude awakening during the 2nd match of the night, which pitted Team Juggalo, consisting of 2 Tuff Tony & Corporal Robinson, against the somewhat makeshift team of AACW Tag Team Champion AWOL & ComPro Tag Team Champion Timothy J. Rockwell, using his former moniker of Timmy J in this match. Despite never having teamed together, Timmy & AWOL held their own in the match, completely irritating the crowd, so much so that a hail of water bottles, lighters, beer cups and other objects would assail the ring for the remainder of the show. Justice had to dodge these items constantly in order to maintain order and deliver the 3-count for Team Juggalo, but after this match, he seemed to be prepared for whatever the event threw at him (no pun intended).
Little did he know what was coming next. A quick jibe from ring announcer Shaggy 2 Dope and then the JCW Title was on the line. The challenger: The Master of the 1-Legged Moonsault, Zach Gowen, a former WWE star best known for being the only active wrestler with just 1 leg. The Champion: "Holy" Trent Acid, who came to the ring with church organs & hymns playing and slowly made his way around the crowd, "blessing" them and acting above all the insanity as the crowd of juggalos rained insults (and more bottles, cups, ice, etc.) at the JCW title holder. Some quick words to remind us that he had recently taken the JCW Championship from Corporal Robinson and would be holding it forever, then it was down to the action. And apparently Mr. Acid had a problem with Rob Justice. As object after object was thrown into the ring, Trent got up in the face of Mr. Justice, demanding better attention and faster counts. Eventually, he slapped Rob in the chest and that was all Rob could take. Rob lashed back onto Trent and the crowd went wild. Rob exploded in Trent's face, telling him he was in charge and he wasn't going to take anymore manhandling from the champion. After Rob cooled down, the match got back to the 2 combatants (and the frequent amount of trash that was piling up in the ring.) and threw chicanery and wileyness, Trent Acid retained the JCW Title.
At this point, former champion Corporal Robinson came out to the ring to try and point out how Acid had cheated to win. Acid & Robinson got face-to-face and the locker room emptied as security (represented by such Oklahomma mainstays as Brad Michaels, Jack Dalton, Tommy Smash, Jessi Jersey, Bernard Funk, Mitch W. Carter & Big Daddy Moore) came to the ring to seperate the two irate performers. Each man tried to disentangle himself from the wrestlers holding him back in the ring, but security did its job and made sure neither man got hold of the other.
And while all that was happening, a battered, beleaguered and very wet Rob Justice quickly made his way to the back. It was more than he had counted on and he was glad to be away from the chaos in the JCW ring.
Rob Justice will be at the SWCW show this Saturday, controlling the action as always. It's unlikely he will experience anything close to the insanity that went on last Friday. Other types of insanity, at the hands of Corporate America, P.I.N.K. Nation & SWCW Champion Luscious Larry will probably ensue, though.
And that's probably a good thing for him.
