Omni Wrestling Alliance Off To A Howling Good Start

The town of Sperry has become something of a new centre for wrestling in Northeast Oklahoma. And that hotbed now has its own federation as the OWA ran their inaugural event at the Baseball Academy where ComPro had run its past two events. OWA management wanted to start off with a tournament that would attract a lot of attention and announced that it would be crowning the first OWA Junior Heavyweight Champion. The result was a showcase of talent and a great scientific main event for the title.
3 new talents to Oklahoma got a chance to shine in this tournament and one of them was Kidd Krash. The good looking young man made his way to the finals by defeating Goldeneye in the opening round and then fighting his way past veteran Mitch Baxter, who had defeated another newcomer, Wild Thang, in the first round. The victory for Krash was not easy as Baxter focused on Krash?s arm, leaving it weakened and vulnerable in the finals.
The other competitor who made it to the finals was Rookie sensation Michael Wolf. Wolf fought off what amounted to 2-on-1 odds in the first round by overcoming SRPW Tag Team Champion Graham Bell, as well as his manager Crossfire Morrison, in the first round. Next, Wolf faced another Oklahoma newcomer in the form of David Silver. Silver had made it to the second round with a victory over ComPro Tag Team Champion Richie Adams and was determined to show the Oklahoma talent how superior talent from California was. Wolf?s victory was not without controversy as Silver exited the ring towards the end and brought a chair into the ring. Silver and the referee had a brief tug-of-war with the chair before Silver was able to yank it away. He then turned around and Wolf dropkicked the chair into Silver?s face and gained the pin.
The final match saw Wolf and Krash face each other in a classic scientific match for the championship. Krash came to the finals with a brace on his arm that had been injured by Mitch Baxter and Wolf pounced on that, smelling the proverbial blood in the water. Krash fired back and rallied on a couple of occassions, pushing Wolf to find new moves and tactics to come out with a victory. In the end, the injured arm proved to be the breaking point as Wolf locked in a Fujiwara armbar and Krash had no choice but to submit. After only 2 months as a pro wrestler, Michael Wolf had gained his first championship.
OWA?s first event had proven to be a success and their next show looks to be even better as they will crown their first Heavyweight champion. Although the field of competitors has not been released, one member is already confirmed. ComPro Champion Michael York earned a bye into the second round by virtue of gaining a pinfall in a 6-man tag team match on this card. Could York become a dual champion? April 20th will bring the answer to that question.
