Still Champion! CRD Can?t Find The Secret To Dethrone York

Still Champion! CRD Can?t Find The Secret To Dethrone York

Posted: Feb 9th 2013 By: CMBurnham

That brief moment when BYEW Champion The Canadian Red Devil won the ComPro title now seems like something out of a nightmare to him. Moments after claiming that belt at ComPro?s Anniversary event, Michael York cashed in his Any Time/Any Title Contract and defeated CRD to reclaim the belt. It was a cheap victory and ComPro Commissioner Mike Iles recognised that, so he set up a rematch between the two in Sperry on December 15th.

CRD was full of more intensity than had been seen out of him in quite some time and the match was active both inside and outside the ring. A collision with the referee became the key factor in the decision. CRD locked York in a Crippler Crossface, but without the referee, no decision could be rendered even though York did tap out. York?s tag team partner Ignition took the opportunity to get involved in the match, but was quickly disposed of. CRD then connected with the Faceplant From Hell, but still, the referee had not recovered, so no pinfall could be counted. Desperate, CRD abandoned the pinfall and went to revive the referee, but after doing so, Ignition quickly interfered and the match was over. CRD got the win, but not the title, and his frustration was evident to everyone as he grabbed a chair and annihilated both York and Ignition, then asked ring announcer C. M. Burnham to announce that he was demanding a Sperry Street Fight at the next event in February.

The request for the Street Fight had to be cleared through Mike Iles, but given his opinion of York as ComPro Champion, it was essentially a given. Iles actually had one more trick up his sleeve when he officially announced the Street Fight at the February 2nd show. If Ignition entered the ring during the match, York would be stripped of the title. Iles wanted this to be resolved between the two men. Sadly, York and his minion had other plans.

While Ignition could not enter the ring, legally he was still allowed to be at ringside. And there were no DQs in the match, so he could still interfere from outside. At first, this wasn?t an issue as both men grabbed chairs to wallop the other with. CRD then switched things up, sitting down on the chair and exchanging slaps with York, who was also seated. Not gaining an advantage that way, CRD introduced a table at ringside. And then the outside interference from Ignition began. At first it was simple trips. Then, when CRD had York in the Sharpshooter, Ignition threw a chair at CRD?s back, breaking the hold. York eventually chokeslammed CRD through the table on the outside and pinned him on the floor. Again, despite odds against him, York found a way to slither through.

CRD knows he has Mike Iles on his side. York won?t be able to hide behind legal trickery to keep the title. But it is going to take some desperate measures to find a way for CRD to reclaim the belt he never got to put on as champion.
