Count Billy Varga, who played a pro wrestler in countless television and movies, as well as had a long career in the ring, passed away yesterday at the age of 94.
Varga was a fixture in Southern California, where he almost never lost, and was one of the go-to guys when Hollywood would need a famous wrestler in a scene, often as a referee that was a former wrestling star, playing himself. Varga was a two-time world light heavyweight champion in the 40s, and continued his wrestle into the 60s.
His best known role would have been in the boxing movie, "Raging Bull."
