NEWS
Brian Lakewood is taking part in a docu-drama about the 1920s Hominy Indians football team. He is playing one of the 1920s New York Giants football players. You can find out more information about the production by clicking here.

There is an amateur wrestling show on Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden in new York, NY, going head-to-head with the Ring of Honor "Final Battle" a few blocks away. Several of the top college wrestling teams will be competing, most notably Oklahoma State, which include four NCAA champions, Kyle Dake (a favorite for the Hodge Trophy), Matt McDonough of Iowa, Logan Steiber of Ohio State and Jordan Oliver of Oklahoma State. WWE is sending Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger, its two former college wrestling stars, to appear before the TLC show that takes place that night where Ziggler is a headliner.

On the Fox TV show "New Girl" last Tuesday night they showed a brief clip of an old WWF match featuring Hulk Hogan vs. The Iron Sheik.

A. J. Styles has a black left eye from bonking heads with Christopher Daniels in their match at "Final Resolution" on Sunday.

On the NBA game on Thursday night, announcers Kevin Harlan and Mike Fratello started talking about pro wrestling. They mentioned Wahoo McDaniel and Argentina Rocca.

Ric Flair posted a Twitter message to his girlfriend Wendy, "Beautiful then, and beautiful now! A very Happy Birthday to my sweet girl Wendy! http://fb.me/2gBV02Tv2". Flair's current girlfriend is Wendy Barlow, who portrayed Fifi the Maid in his "Flair for the Gold" segments in WCW.

The Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in Amsterdam, NY announced their Class of 2013 inductees. The inductions will take place in May of 2013 at the Holiday Inn in Johnstown, NY. The inductees are:

-TV Era: Bill Watts and Baron Von Raschke
-Tag Team: The Assassins (Jody Hamilton and Tom Renesto)

Superfly Jimmy Snuka has provided his loyal legion of fans and followers with quite a few memorable moments during his career in professional wrestling. From his legendary maneuvers from the top ropes to his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, Snuka?s career can be described as both colorful and thrilling. Snuka and co-author Jon Chattman have now put together the wrestling legend?s memoir in the brand new title Superfly: The Jimmy Snuka Story (Triumph Books, December 2012). An incredibly entertaining autobiography, complete with a ?Snuk-tionary? at the back, Superfly relates the legacy of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) icon and his incredible journey from the Fiji Islands to the pro-wrestling world in the wrestler?s own candid words.

Bob Costas of NBC Sports stirred up some controversy last week when he said that when a Kansas City Chiefs football player shot and killed his girlfriend then turned the gun on himself, that guns or gun laws were to blame. Dutch Mantell posted his opinion on Costas on Facebook "Bob Costas has to be an idiot. Blaming ?guns? for Jovan Belcher killing his girfriend is an idiotic statement. If a gun wasn?t handy, he could have just as easily have used a knife or his own hands to kill this 120 lb. woman but blaming it on a ?gun? is stupid. Bob Costas needs to call football games and leave the social commentaries to those who might want to hear it."

Black Bart had surgery to remove his gall bladder. Oklafan sishes him a speedy recovery.

Black Bart's wife posted on facebook "I want to thank all of you again for your prayers. Bart is at home and as comfortable as he can be after surgery. The doctor said that his gall bladder was in really bad shape and was difficult to get out. But it is out and he will be fine. The doctor also removed the lump and sent it be checked out. He thinks it is just fatty tissue but we will know for sure when the tests come back. They took him in at 3:15 pm and it was done by 4:30 but then of course it took time for him recover and to be ready to get up and leave. We got home about 6:30pm. I mostly want to thank God for once again being there. He not only made sure we had what we needed to get this procedure done but he also helped Bart to relax and get his blood pressure down so there would not be anymore complications than they were already having. Anyway once again I thank each and everyone of you for the prayers and gifts. We couldn?t have done it without you. Linda"

Oklafan extends its condolences to The Shadow of Death on the passing his mother last week.

Oklafan extends its condolences to the family and friends of Mike Bowyer, who passed away on December 6th. While most Oklafan readers would probably remember Bowyer as "Hippy" Mike Boyette, an enhancement talent wrestler who lost nearly 200 matches on TV for Universal Wrestling Federation, he had a long and successful career prior to coming to UWF. Before his pro wrestling career, he was a judo champion while in the Marines and was slated to compete for the United States in the 1964 Olympics until he broke his leg in practice. He was trained for pro wrestling by Eddie Sharley and Verne Gagne and made his debut using his real name in 1966 in AWA. He eventually went to Gulf Coast Wrestling where he engaged in a feud with Bob Kelly and also formed a popular tag team with Mickey Doyle as The California Hippies. While in Gulf Coast, he held the Heavyweight Title 4 times, the Tag Team Titles 3 times, and the United States Tag Team Titles 7 times. In 1977, he helped Michael Hayes break into the business. When working for UWF, he was seen wrestling on TV and the company made reference to his 0-197 record.
