Hardcore Warfare!
Posted: Oct 26th 2012 By: CMBurnham
A war has broken out in SWCW between SWCW Hardcore Champion Kareem Sadat and SWCW Tag Team Champion Rick Russo. And this war seems destined to have innocent casualties.
At "Thirst For Gold", Sadat put the SWCW Hardcore Title on the line against Russo. This was after Russo, together with his Tag Team Championship partner Shane Sanchez, had successfully defended their titles against the Syndicate. Russo and Sadat had a voilently bloody match which saw a door get shattered in a corner, a bowling ball rolled into the crotch of Russo and overwhelming mayhem and chaos. Both men would be dishonest to say that they were fortunate to get out of the match alive.
So two weeks later, they decided to do it all again.
This time, though, the rules were adjusted at the beginning as a coffin was wheeled to ringside and SWCW Commissioner Chris Kuhn announced that in addition to pinfalls and submission being a way to end the match, a competitor could also win by putting his opponent in the coffin and slamming the lid. As Russo waited, looking at the runway, Sadat emerged from the coffin and attacked Russo from behind. For 30 minutes, Sadat and Russo, together with Russo's manager Stevie Caballero, brought out all the toys again to attempt to destroy each other. Cookie sheets, baseball bats, cheese graters. L. J. McDaniels was at ringside and collected dollars from the audience to staple to Russo's posterior.
When Sadat finally got the pinfall and it seemed like the war was over, it was just beginning. Shane Sanchez, injured during a match between Les Mayne & Drake Gallows, hobbled down to the ring and helped Russo in a 2-on-1 attack. This brought newly-crowned SWCW All-American Champion Kevin James Sanchez down to help Sadat. Seeing an opportunity to give the fans even more blood and gore, Kuhn annonced that there would be an impromptu Tag Team title match and it would be contested under Hardcore Rules. The Brothers of Hardcore seemed to have everything in their corner to walk out victorious, each as dual champions. But even with the broken ankle that Shane Sanchez suffered, both teams were still able to compete for 10 minutes, coming to an end when Russo shoved Sadat in the casket and Shane hit his brother Kevin in the head with one of the tag team titles. The Franchise Players walked away hurt, but still champions.
Stevie Caballero didn't have much chance to celebrate as he was grabbed and thrown into the casket, then rolled around the arena before being rescued by his stable. Emerging from the casket and white as a sheet, Caballero rallied the troops and beat a hasty retreat from the area. The Brothers of Hardcore may not have captured the Tag Team titles this time, but they believe their time is coming and have vowed to bring the Tag Team titles back home, ending the Franchise Players power in the company.
