Tacious' Thirst For Gold Focus of Main Event...and Mayne Event!

It was one of the most disgusting displays in recent SWCW history.

For months, Austin Tacious had made a mockery of the SWCW officials. He refused to compete in matches. He took countout losses just to prove that winning and losing "didn't matter". And he thumbed his nose at both SWCW Commissioner Chris Kuhn and SWCW owner Kevin James Sanchez.

When David Kyzer was forced to vacate the SWCW title due to injury, Tacious saw yet another opportunity for himself. Rather than have to enter the ring, Tacious came out and confronted Kuhn, saying that had earned a shot as the #1 contender to the title and since there was no champion, the title should just be handed over to him. This brought Sanchez out, who countered this claim by saying that, since he was the SWCW All-American Champion, he was the number one contender. Kuhn decided to put both number one contenders in a Ladder match for the vacant title, but before that, Tacious would have a "tune-up match" against another person who some believed to be a #1 contender: "The Mayne Event" Les Mayne.

The match started off normally enough, but things took a turn for the worse when Mayne came off the 2nd rope for an axe-handle blow to the back and tweaked his knee. The referee repeatedly waived Tacious off in an effort to check on Mayne's ability to continue and even Tacious appeared to see that things were bad, flashing the "X" sign to the back. As other referees came from the back to help Mayne, the vicious side of Tacious suddenly sprung forward. He moved in behind Mayne and clipped his injured knee, then relentlessly began to work on that knee. Using every device at his disposal, Tacious focused on Mayne's patella, apparently attempting to annihilate it. Mayne fought valiantly, trying to fight through the pain, but after being caught in the Tree of Woe, Mayne could not continue and finally passed out from the pain. Multiple people came from the back to help carry Mayne to the back and Tacious stood gloating in the ring.

With a clear message sent, Tacious cemented an immediate reputation for himself. No longer was he an apparent coward who just wanted things done his way. Now, he was a vicious killer who would relentlessly do damage to his opponent. So there was some obvious trepidation on the part of Sanchez as he stepped in the ring to not only defend his All-American title, but to become SWCW for a 3rd time. Tacious was getting his first opportunity at SWCW gold and could walk in with nothing and become a dual champion. But the surprises weren't over as Commissioner Kuhn decided that with everything that was at stake, this match needed 2 referees. Bill Lebeaux would be on the outside in a reserve roll and L. J. McDaniels would be inside.

It looked like history might be repeating itself as Sanchez, who has a long history of ankle and knee issues, fell victim to some poor timing and tweaked his ankle during the match. With so much on the line, there was no chance that he was going to abandon his championship by forfeiting the match, but it certainly put him at a disadvantage. And then things went very wrong with L. J. McDaniels was knocked out. Bill Lebeaux made his way in to take over and Commissioner Kuhn attempted to revive McDaniels, eventually being forced to pour water over him. With McDaniels back in action, things got back to normal until McDaniels was again thrown from the ring and rendered unconscious. With Commissioner Kuhn and Bill Lebeaux attending to McDaniels, Sanchez was able to scale the ladder and unhook both belts. However neither referee saw this and Tacious picked up on that point. He mounted the second rope and hit a spear on Sanchez, knocking the belts out of his hands and landing on them himself. Lebeaux turned around at that point and saw two fallen wrestlers. Seeing Tacious laying atop the belts, Lebeaux made what seemed to him to be the proper decision and declared him the winner. A complete miscarriage of justice. But the action wasn't over yet.

After the result was announced, music hit and Les Mayne made his way out on the ramp with a crutch. Mayne had been in the arena prior to the show beginning, signing autographs and meeting with the fans. But it was clear that his leg was not anywhere near 100%. As Mayne limped through the entrance, Tacious mocked him in the ring, hopping around on one leg and pointing and laughing at the incapacitated performer. That amusement ended when Mayne stopped, dropped the crutch and stood on both legs firmly. He then began to remove his street clothes and prepared to charge the ring. Tacious couldn't believe his eyes and quickly collected his ill-gotten belts before fleeing from the charging Mayne.

Tacious is currently basking in the glory of being a dual champion in SWCW, something that hasn't been done in quite some time. But the challengers for both titles lay out there in the waiting. Kevin James Sanchez feels robbed. Les Mayne wants revenge, but would love to win a title or two in the process. And several other up-and-coming stars in SWCW certainly would like to make their mark at Tacious' disposal. Tacious may have quenched his thirst for gold at this event, but he may not be a happy champion too long.
