Under Fire! MSWA Commissioner Faces Demands From Multiple Sides
Posted: Feb 20th 2007 By: CMBurnham
No one said the job would be easy, but MSWA Commissioner Halo has recently been besieged with issues to handle and this past Saturday those issues almost seemed to overflow as he stood firm on decisions he had to make.
The situation started with Brad Michaels coming to the ring to complain about how he was no longer the #1 contender to the MSWA Mid-South Title held by Ryan Davidson. Despite chasing Davidson for months prior to the hiatus that MSWA was put on due to building issues, when Michaels returned, he discovered that a Battle Royale had been held in his absence and Angel Williams was now the #1 contender for Davidson's belt. Michaels demanded that Halo come out to address this issue and the commissioner didn't disappoint. He said he would just as soon throw Michaels out of the federation (a popular decision based on the crowd reaction), but there were no legal grounds for that action. He then revealed that MSWA was under new management (although the identity of that management was not revealed) and he was ordered by the management to hold the Battle Royale. Halo then reluctantly admitted that there was paperwork granting Michaels a title shot on his desk and decided that Michaels would receive that title shot that afternoon, pulling Williams out of the main event and putting Michaels in. Michaels left the ring a happy man, even though Halo told him that he was out for him.
No sooner had one whiny wrestler left the ring than another came out to demand some attention. Aaron Neil came forward, dressed for unexplained reasons in outlandish garb that looked like it came straight out of the 1970s, and complained about not being signed to wrestle MSWA Oklahoma champion Outlaw for the title. Halo, who spent almost 2 minutes in uncontrollable laughing fits at Neil's attire, reminded "The Real Deal" that when Outlaw defeated him for the Oklahoma Title that he had stripped from Michael Faith, that put him at the bottom of the contenders list and he had to work his way back up to the top. He then announced that Outlaw would be defending his title this afternoon against Tyler Bateman. When Outlaw came to the ring, he said that if he came out of the match with the Oklahoma Title, he would grant Neil a shot at the next show. But that promise never had the chance to be fulfilled. After a distraction of the referee, Neil, who had stayed at ringside the whole match to "observe", threw powder in Outlaw's eyes, allowing Bateman (who did not see what happened) to get the pin and become Oklahoma Champion. Neil seemed very pleased with this decision and left the ring area. Outlaw was helped to the back where his eyes were flushed out and he seemed recovered by the end of the show, albeit unhappy about the loss of the title he'd only held for about one month.
Things worked out better for Ryan Davidson as the MSWA Mid-South Champion got to keep his belt due to Brad Michaels being disqualified for using a chair. One would safely assume that the issues between these 2 men have not been settled. And both should think about the FACT that lurking in the back somewhere is Angel Williams who has now been denied a title shot he earned. Williams may be the next one in face of the commissioner, who still has the tag title scene to deal with, plus the chaotic actions of wrestlers such as Al Farat & Beau Dalton to handle. But the commissioner looked strong this Saturday and presumably he can handle anything thrown at him in the course of duty.
