Jerry Lawler continues to improve after his heart attack during a live broadcast Monday night, but remains in serious but stable condition in the cardiac care unit of a Montreal hospital.

Lawler, 62, a commentator and wrestler for the WWE, suffered the heart attack while calling a match during an episode of "Monday Night Raw." He had wrestled a match about 45 minutes earlier.

Broadcast partner Michael Cole, who was sitting next to Lawler when he had the heart attack and alerted a ringside physician, tweeted late Wednesday night: "#wweuniverse You will never believe this! I just got off the phone with the King and he is alert and in great spirits! He sends his love to you all and thanks you for all the support! He says the strap will be coming down soon! Folks Jerry Lawler is going to win this!"

Lawler's former wife, Stacy Carter, had earlier said Lawler is talking and laughing with friends.

There is still no timetable for when Lawler will be released from the hospital and when or if he will be able to return to the show.

Lawler was given CPR immediately and was shocked seven times with a defibrillator. He underwent an angioplasty Tuesday and had three stents put in to open his coronary arteries.

Carter and Lawler?s son said Wednesday that scans showed Lawler suffered no brain damage from oxygen depletion.
