News:
Entitled "The Hardcore Diaries", this new autobiography from Mick Foley will be the third bio penned by the #1 NY Times bestselling author. Containing a total of 384 pages, "The Hardcore Diaries" will be released in the beginning of next month and will include an unprecedented access to WWE, covering everything from conception to completion and as Mick Foley himself put it, "Expose the backstage politics, shed some light on my rocky relationship with Vince McMahon, offer insights into my personal dealings with WWE Superstars, and tell stories about my favorite Divas." Suggested retail price is $24.
WWE is keeping the door open for possible Mick Foley and John Bradshaw Layfield Wrestlemania matches.
Ric Flair's WWE RAW promo on Carlito was something of a shoot. Both Carlito and Shelton Benjamin are viewed as superstars with a lack of drive and passion, unwilling to go the extra mile. Agents have tried to motivate Carlito, but thus far he simply hasn't responded.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer during the week had a note about the NCL high school meet in the city, noted Ric Flair being there to root his son Reid on as he beat Chris Honeycutt by technical fall 20-5
While Batista has his friends, many in the Smackdown locker room are not fans of the current world heavyweight champion. Some have compared him to The Ultimate Warrior.
WWE 24/7 March schedule includes "Wrestlemania III-The Championship Edition" which includes a digitally remastered version of the event which showcased a main event of WWF World Champion Hulk Hogan defending the title against Andre the Giant. Other features scheduled for March include "The Monday Night Wars" hosted by Michael Cole which features Steve Austin vs. Vader.
WWE referee Nick Patrick, who is the son of Deep South Wrestling owner Jody "The Assassin" Hamilton, replaced Bill DeMott as the color commentator on DSW television.
Dusty Rhodes is pushing for WWE to sign former TNA star Shocker to a deal. Because the Smackdown audience is heavily Hispanic, WWE is looking to secure deals with a few Mexican wrestlers such as Perro Aguayo Jr. and Mistico, among others.
Several northeastern wrestlers attempted to raise funds for Bam Bam Bigelow's New Jersey funeral. Afa of The Wild Samoans contacted Vince McMahon, who agreed to pay for the funeral. A second funeral for Bigelow, in Florida, was funded by local wrestlers in the area. Bigelow's New Jersey funeral was attended by the likes of Mick Foley, Dallas Page, and Brother Ray from Team 3D.
On Billboard Magazine's issue dated February 17th, WWE's "Born to Controversy: The Roddy Piper Story" is ranked #8 in the Top 10 Video Sales of Recreational Sports DVDs
Speaking of Piper, he is still in good spirits despite undergoing radiation treatment five times a week for four weeks to defeat a low-grade Lymphoma cancer. Back in December, he promised that he would walk down that RAW ramp once again cancer free and Piper is still keeping that promise. "I will be walking down that ramp on Raw again, that's a promise. I want to warn everyone right now, when you see me on that stage, get the heck out of my way," said the Hot Rod in an interview with WWE.com last week. He said that he won't know the results for another few months but he feels good. In fact he feels so good that he already went back to work, filming a new movie for MTV.
Sgt. Slaughter appeared at an Arizona Sundogs hockey game on February 2nd doing autographs. He got a moderate ovation. They did an angle where three fans were there to answer what was Slaughter's famous finishing move. The cobra clutch of course. Two women had no idea, but the planted fan knew. Slaughter went to congratulate the guy, but the guy turned heel on him, ripping off his Arizona T-shirt, revealing a Laredo Bucks (the visiting team) T-shirt and cutting a heel promo on Slaughter. Slaughter put him in the cobra clutch and the sundogs mascot counted to three as the guy sold like he was passed out. Well, the mascot thought he was counting a pin even though the guy was standing up. Slaughter then had to explain to the mascot you check the arm three times, not slap your hand on the ice. So the mascot did it. Worse, when it was over, the guy got right up like nothing happened.
TNA's current plan is to put Christian Cage, A. J. Styles, Tomko, and Scott Steiner together as a heel group.
Hector Guerrero was seen backstage at TNA's "Against All Odds" pay-per-view event on February 11th in Orlando, FL
Interesting connection here. Bill Goldberg's first cousin, Neal Baer, is the executive producer for "Law & Order: SVU."
International Wrestling Manitoba is furious at Greg Valentine for no-showing its event Friday and Saturday as well as all sorts of publicity appearances. He was double booked and was apparently working other shows in Wisconsin and Ohio.
Dan Severn will be headlining shows on both February 17th in Thackerville, OK and February 24th in Norman, OK for Caged Combat Championships
Due to recent accusations against Jake Roberts and him being escorted from a Full Impact Pro event recently, USA Wrestling Xtreme Wrestling has removed him from the main event at the February 24th show in which he was scheduled to face UXW Champion Raven. UXW has replaced him with AWA World Tag Team Champion Steve Corino. When Roberts heard about this, he was mad as hell and refused to accept UXW's reasoning. He said he still will be at the event and will not only address the situation, but plans to show everybody that he still has what it takes to make it in the wrestling world. Jake's opponent will be named on the night of the show.
NWA Texas Champion Chaz Taylor will be making a title defense in Oklahoma in March. He will be accompanied by NWA Southwest promoter Ken Taylor (no relation).
Once again, from the "We must have missed it" file comes this. Scotty Charisma defeated CCW Pennsylvania Champion Rob Eckos for the title at the Continental Championship Wrestling event in Windgap, PA on November 11th.
