Thornstowe in the middle of a controversy
Posted: Feb 2nd 2007 By: mikeiles
When Adam Thornstowe wrestled in Oklahoma, he was controversial. But since returning to his old stomping grounds on the West Coast, he has changed his persona and perhaps gave a new meaning to the word controversial. He no longer calls himself "The Trend" or "The Trendsetter", he is now calling himself "The Rock Legend Scum" and after his actions at a recent Ground Zero Wrestling event, fans may believe that he really is scum.
The main event for the GZW event in Modesto, CA was scheduled to be GZW Champion El Chupacabra defending the title against Adam Thornstowe and Rik Luxury in a Triple Threat Match. The champion was announced first, then Luxury. The ring announcer then announced Thornstowe, who accompanied to the ring by Luster the Legend and Malachi. It was then, that the controversy began.
Thornstowe, Luster, and Malachi entered the ring and instructed Luxury to get out, which he did. Thornstowe then began berating GZW management and made acusations against the owners of GZW. Thornstowe then laid down to get pinned. Malachi and Luster forced the ref to make the three count, and then threw Chupacabra out of the ring, reportedly injuring his elbow. Thornstowe, Luster, and Malachi then left the ring, GZW belt in hand. After the so-called match, Sir Samurai came out to address the fans. He also called Thornstowe back to the ring, but he did not return. Thornstowe, Luster, and Malachi reportedly had left the arena.
Since that time, rumors have been swirling around Northern California as it appears that Thornstowe's tirade was not a part of the show and was against booker's orders. Last report, Thornstowe still had possession of the GZW belt and has no plans of returning it. At a Supreme Pro Wrestling event in Sacramento, CA in late 2006, Thornstowe, Chupacabra, and Luxury wrestled for the GZW Title and none of the three wanted to win the match. The referee in the match ended up with the title.
Ground Zero Wrestling management has not released any comments regarding Thornstowe's allegations, the theft of the GZW Title, or his future with the company.
