Notes From the Sting TNA "Slammiversary" Press Conference Call

- Sting talked about going to TNA in the early days of the company because they loved the brand. Sting wasn?t happy about how WCW ended in 2001, and talked about being contacting by Dixie Carter, Jeff Jarrett, and Jerry Jarret.

- Sting was asked about the Black Scorpion angle, and he said his fear was that the first choices for the role wasn?t available ? such as Hulk Hogan or The Ultimate Warrior.

- Sting put over Bobby Roode as a great worker.

- Sting talked about staying in great shape, and discussed eating better and working out harder.

- Sting said he thinks every year, this will be his last, but Dixie Carter is persistent in keeping him on the TNA roster. Sting said it is hard to walk away when TNA ?isn?t quite there.?

- Sting talked about working Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle at Bound for Glory PPVs as some of his favorite TNA matches.

- ?You can not please everyone,? said Sting about criticism on TNA for not properly grooming new stars.

- Sting put over past opponents such as Vader and Great Muta. Sting said Rick Rude was one of the best heels ever in the business.

- Sting said in the last year that his interest and motivation for pro wrestling has risen, and put over the people he works with in TNA.

- Sting talked said in the past, on a scale from 1 to 10, he was at a 6 or 7 in previous discussions with Vince McMahon. Sting said the last negotiations, it was a 9 and was surprised it didn?t happen.

- Sting said, as of now, he plans to retire in TNA.

- Sting said he would have loved to work with The Undertaker, and said he has worked with just about everybody in the business over the years.

- He said he has talked to one publisher about writing an autobiography.

- Sting said in the past, there were clear babyfaces and heels, and in today?s wrestling, there are many wrestlers that fall into the gray area.

- He said doesn?t stay in contact with Jim Hellwig (Warrior), but said they occasionally run into each other and are on good terms.

- Sting said he never had any issues with Bret Hart since they both used essentially the same finishing maneuver.

- Asked about future break out stars, he mentioned Austin Aries, Bobby Roode, James Storm, and Magnus.

- Sting doesn?t think he should be the first inductee into the TNA hall of fame. He mentioned names like Jeff Jarrett and AJ Styles being recognized before him.

- Sting said he could envision himself working behind the camera in a part time capacity after retiring from the ring.

- He said he would like to see more character development in TNA.

- Sting said he has turned down things because of his religious beliefs.

- When asked about wrestling shows expanding to three hours, Sting said it was needed in WCW because the product was red hot, but questioned WWE expanding Raw to three hours right now.
