WWE News: Mick Foley's Continued Involvement Proves He'll Work Another WWE Match
Posted: May 28th 2012 By: mikeiles
With the WWE?s rush to bring back veteran talent to put over the younger stars, the fact that former ECW and WWE legend Mick Foley continues to work in different capacities in the ring for the company means a comeback is imminent.
Lords of Pain is reporting about Foley?s latest appearance at a house show, which have been increasing in frequency:
Mick Foley worked last night's WWE SmackDown live event in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was the special enforcer as WWE United States Champion Santino Marella defeated Jack Swagger. Foley ended up hitting Swagger with Mr. Socko.
It?s obvious that being a special-guest enforcer is not the same as working a match, but it?s as close to it as the WWE can allow without spoiling the surprise of a return.
While some fans don?t feel that Foley should attempt a return, the sheer love for this man every time his music hits and the respect he gets from the wrestlers in the back is why he continues to be asked back to the WWE.
Now that it looks like he will get at least one more match, its time to figure out which current WWE star will get the rub from the wrestling legend.
Dean Ambrose
Whether the fans know it yet or not, the feud they want to see the most with Mick Foley has to be with FCW and Indy legend Dean Ambrose.
The two men have already started their feud, but it has died down as of late. With Foley continuing to get into ring shape, there is little doubt that the No. 1 choice for the WWE would be Mick getting their young star over to the mainstream crowd.
Few fans really know who Dean Ambrose is, so the hope for the WWE is that he could be the new Edge; especially if he gets to spear Foley through a flaming table.
Daniel Bryan
Daniel Bryan doesn?t need help getting over with the hardcore wrestling fans, but he is not yet the draw the company wants him to be. That?s where Mick Foley would come in.
With Bryan already getting serious heel heat, an attack on a legend like Foley and the subsequent feud would catapult Bryan?s name to the lips of all wrestling fans.
As great as this feud with CM Punk is right now, there is no timetable for how long it will last. The WWE doesn?t trust that the current title picture between Punk and Bryan is making money, so splitting the duo up would be sad for fans but an easy choice for the company.
Damien Sandow
This is a long shot to say the least, but a storyline between an educated savior like Damien Sandow and a sweatpants-wearing Mick Foley writes itself.
Add in the fact that Foley is a very educated man with several best-selling books, and this war of words would be one the fans would never forget. If this came to fruition, Sandow would get over huge.
While I haven?t seen enough of Sandow in the WWE to judge his skills, they can?t be too terrible. They have to be good enough to carry Foley through a match, so his in-ring skills better be sufficient.
