Beth Phoenix: Fake Ankle Injury Lame Attempt to Create Hype in Divas Division
Posted: Apr 26th 2012 By: mikeiles
Beth Phoenix's ankle injury is not legit, according ProWrestling.net.
Apparently, Phoenix was told to sell the injury to set up losing the Divas championship to Nikki Bella.
To me, that decision was as lame as the Divas division itself.
The WWE has needed a viable rival for Beth Phoenix since Kharma stepped away due to personal reasons. Taking the title from Phoenix on a technicality is disappointing, and giving it to one of the Bella twins is shameful.
Yes, even if it only lasts a week.
Nothing about either of the Bellas is exciting or championship-worthy.
If this is part of a bigger storyline to bring Kharma back into the picture, I applaud that. However, it certainly could have been done in a better way.
The other Divas are so irrelevant that their inclusion in any plot or angle is more of a hindrance than an augmentation.
If a Diva from the current roster was going to be included, it shouldn't have been Nikki or Brie Bella.
It is widely believed that the Bellas are leaving the company at the end of April. Their contracts are expected to expire on April 30.
However, I have never been a fan of mixing exiting stars in championship-related angles.
It leaves ridiculous loose ends.
If this has been set up simply to allow Kharma to obliterate Nikki Bella and usher them out of the door, I have to ask if it was even necessary?
I'm all for a Kharma return and a feud with Beth Phoenix, but fake ankle injuries and the Bella Twins are a lame mix.
