WWE News: Real Reason Beth Phoenix Dropped the Divas Title to Nikki Bella on RAW

During last night?s RAW SuperShow in Detroit, champion Beth Phoenix was upset by Nikki Bella in the Divas Championship match after apparently injuring her ankle as she jumped from the apron to the floor during the match.

With both of The Bella Twins soon to be exiting the WWE at the end of the month, what was the real reason for Nikki Bella to win the Divas Championship from the dominant Phoenix on Monday night?

The idea was to get the Divas Title off of Beth Phoenix so Kharma can get the belt without facing Phoenix first. The plan as of a few days ago was for Nikki to win the title, likely at Extreme Rules, and then get destroyed by Kharma the next night on RAW. Obviously plans were moved up and the title change happened on RAW last night.

Even though it would?ve been nice to see someone other than Nikki Bella take the title off Phoenix, the plan for the Divas Championship mentioned in the source sounds like a great idea by the WWE.

As a longtime fan of the WWE, it would be great to see the division once again competitive with multiple challengers for the championship instead of just one dominant champion for a long period of time.

While the days of the Divas division with Trish, Lita, Victoria and others will likely never be seen again in the WWE, the upcoming feud between Beth Phoenix and Kharma will be a good starting point to get the division moving forward and back on track.

With the return of Kharma to the WWE on the horizon, what are your predictions on where the Divas division will go from here after being plagued with boring matches over the past few months?
