Championship Reign Brings New Intensity Out Of Underperforming Star

For most of his career, Rodney Dangerfield made himself famous by saying that he "got no respect".

SRPW United States Champion J. B. is much the same.

J. B. has never been the most accomplished performer. He seemed to stick out as the one that was "different" while a member of the Foundation, while Kyle Everlast and Robbie Awesome stole the spotlight. And while he was not afraid to let the fans know his feelings while on the microphone, he couldn't match with their manager, Moses Manson.

When the Foundation dissolved, it appeared that J. B.'s future was pretty grim. But then, a lucky happenstance as he captured the SRPW United States Title from Ray Martinez on February 4th. That one incident appears to have bolstered his confidence tremendously.

Two weeks later, J. B. teamed with his former Foundation partner Everlast to face Awesome, Martinez & B-Rabbit in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match. Again, it wasn't easy, but the duo overcame the numbers issue and walked away with a victory.

This past Friday night saw J. B. step into a Triple Threat Match to defend his US title. Besides B-Rabbit, Pork Chop was also involved. The opening saw J. B. & Pork Chop team up against B-Rabbit, abusing him heavily. But when pin attempts were made, both men clearly remembered that they didn't want to blow the opportunity to win the prestigious title. B-Rabbit was able to divide and conquer for a brief time, but all for naught. As Pork Chop held B-Rabbit, J. B. prepared to charge in with a spear. But Rabbit back kicked Pork Chop in the groin and side stepped, making J. B. spear Pork Chop by accident. Rabbit believed this to be his opening, but perhaps celebrated a little too long as J. B. got the chance to recover and hit a Downward Spiral on him to get the win.

While Rabbit was shaken up by it, Pork Chop was very upset. It's been almost 3 1/2 years since he held singles gold and the opportunity had once again eluded him. Before referee John the Encourager could present the belt back to J. B. Pork Chop grabbed it and stared at it sullenly, then gave it to the champion and raised his hand. A true act of sportsmanship by an SRPW original.

J. B.'s challenges have only just begun, though, as he must face Kyle Everlast on March 31st in Tulsa for the US title. And SRPW Commissioner Robbie Awesome announced at the last show that he would be in the match as well. It's a Foundation reunion with potential disaster on the menu.
