Knowledge Is Power!

Knowledge Is Power!

When you're around people for a long time, you learn things about them. Things that can be a tad bit bothersome should the friendship go sour.

Many months ago, the Foundation believed that they had a weak link in their armour. And they determined that link to be Kyle Everlast. Unceremoniously dumped from the group, Everlast became the pet whipping boy of Robbie Awesome. He took every opportunity he could to inflict physical injury, but almost seemed to enjoy playing mind games with his former stablemate even more.

Awesome's opportunities to toy with Everlast are ensured now that Awesome has been appointed the commissioner of SRPW. Awesome has used that position to do such things as deny Everlast a shot at the SRPW Title, even though he promised the winner of an online poll the opportunity.

Even though Everlast has had to deal with Awesome's games, he has still set some goals in SRPW and one of those is still to win some championship gold. Two shows ago, he defeated J. B. Varsity and at the first SRPW show in 2012, he looked to have SRPW United States Champion Ray Martinez defeated, but ended up taking the match by DQ, which didn't allow him to win the belt.

This month, after the internet fiasco, Everlast was scheduled to face off against Rolling Thunder. Awesome took the opportunity to remind everyone about how he had toyed with Everlast prior to his match, then reinforced his belief that Everlast would never get a title shot as long as he was in charge. He then seemed to change his mind and said that if Everlast could get past Rolling Thunder, he would award him with a title shot. Thunder seemed upset about this and demaded an equal opportunity...and it was granted by Awesome.

So the two men faced off. As usual, Thunder's cowardly manners didn't endear him to the fans. Everlast tried to focus on the match and the title opportunity, but the presence of Awesome at ringside was an obvious distraction. Things then went from bad to worse as Ray Martinez & Selena arrived unannounced at ringside. While Selena distracted the referee, Martinez slipped in from behind and gave Everlast an X-Factor, allowing Thunder to score the win and the championship match. Awesome once again gloated over how he had pulled one over on Everlast. Perhaps he should have waited to celebrate.

After intermission, Martinez & Selena were back out, prepared to defend his title against J. B. Robbie Awesome chose this opportunity to mention how J. B. was also a former Foundation member and he had a hard time picking who he thought was going to win, so he decided to just sit back and watch. Even though Martinez was the veteran, he wasn't prepared to handle firey J. B. and had to rely on Selena and her interference frequently during the match. But, in an interesting parallel to the earlier match, Everlast came out and went to the ring table, picking up the US title belt. He then strode around the ring, admiring the title. This seriously distracted Martinez, who chose to lay off the pressure he was putting on J. B. and try to get Everlast to put the belt down. Everlast never entered the ring, nor did he lay his hands on Martinez. He just calmly discussed matters with Martinez, but it was enough to serve a purpose. When Martinez turned around, he was met with a vicious spear and 3 seconds later, Martinez's second SRPW US Title reign was cut short.

Everlast eyed J. B. in something of a show of respect while Martinez & Robbie Awesome were going nuts. Even though he hadn't walked away with the title opportunity, Everlast had proven that he had what it took to be a champion. And he certainly knew what he needed to do to get inside Ray Martinez's head. With time, perhaps he can do the same to Robbie Awesome. And if that happens, it will be more valuable to Everlast than any championship gold he could ever hold.
