WWE/TNA News: Sting Comments on Joining WWE and Possible Match with Undertaker

Seeing Sting and Undertaker collide in the center of the ring has always been a recurring dream for wrestling fans.

For years, one has been synonymous with WCW (and now TNA), whereas the other has been a stalwart of the WWF/E.

Clad in the blackest of attire, the two long-standing icons are known for standing in the darkest of shadows and employing supernatural, psychological warfare against their adversaries.

Immune to fear, they exploit the phobia of the unknown in others, evoking it with the toll of a bell, a pointed baseball bat and sudden appearances out of thin air.

In some ways, they are one and the same; in other ways, they are very different.

Amounting to an intrigue that is palpable, there has been an unquenchable anticipation to see the dream bout come to fruition.

Just last year, the suspense became unbearably tantalizing.

For instance, the allusions to Sting/Undertaker in the "2-21-11" videos not only stirred imaginations across the world, but yielded a multitude of fan-made posters pitting the enigmatic superstars head-on.

Only recently, though, we learned how close we were to witnessing history unfold. And through the cracks of a silver lining, we realized that the light of hope is still glimmering.

In a recent interview with CNY KISS FM?transcribed by PWTorch.com?the man behind the white face paint, Steve Borden, revealed his thoughts on the matter.

When asked about "dream" opponents he has yet to wrestle, notably "The Dead Man," Sting was surprisingly candid in his response:

"I'd have to say the top one, and it's all over Twitter, I might as well just comment on it - Undertaker. Wrestling fans have wanted to see Sting vs. Undertaker for years. And, I think between his gimmick and mine, it could be pretty cool."

Also, when posed the question if he's had any second thoughts about not signing with the WWE, the former WCW heavyweight champion was, again, forthcoming:

"Yes and no. Who wouldn't want to say they did at least one WrestleMania? I'd like to be able to say I did at least one of those, and that would be it."

While Sting is currently a TNA employee, his comments indicate that he's leaning toward the possibility more than ever.

Two major reasons include the fact that not only is the potential storyline compelling to him, but there is still a groundswell of fan interest that refuses to attenuate.

Ultimately, Sting may willingly walk into the clutches of Vince McMahon's creative vision, after all.

If it's in the cards, Sting needs to make it happen sooner rather than later. At nearly 53 years of age and on the verge of retirement, he needs to act quickly.

Otherwise, the dream of watching Undertaker and Sting face to face, amidst the grandest spectacle of all, will remain just that?an intoxicating, unfulfilled delusion.
