Tag Team Gold Prominent On The Mind Of Brother Duo

Tag Team Gold Prominent On The Mind Of Brother Duo

Posted: Jan 27th 2012 By: CMBurnham

Recent conversations have bemoaned the condition of tag team wrestling in general. But if you asked the Sharpe Brothers or BYEW Tag Team Champions the Syndicate, they wouldn't agree. Both teams are embroiled in issues surrounding two different tag team titles and the Syndicate have shown that there are no depths they're not willing to sink to in order to become dual champions.

Scott Sanders & Shawn Sanders have been on-again/off-again competitors in SWCW, but made quite the impression when they reentered the federation on December 17th and challenged SWCW Tag Team Champions X-Rated for their titles. It appeared that the Sanders twins had won the belts, but that decision was overturned by the referee. This past Saturday, the Syndicate faced off against the Sharpe Brothers, who have slowly, but surely been making an impression in SWCW.

As usual, the Syndicate showed themselves to be classless individuals and berated the Sharpes for being deaf. But unlike most bullies, they were able to back up their taunts and challenges and won their match with a clothesline/Russian leg sweep combination. That wasn't the last the audience would see of them that night, though. Later, X-Rated once again put the tag team titles up for grabs, this time against Rick Russo & Les Mayne. And before the match began, Scott & Shawn Sanders made their way down to sit at ringside and do commentary on KHCC Online radio. Impressively, the Sanders remained at ringside and did not attempt to interfere. And after the match, the Sanders calmly entered the ring to talk with Kevin James Sanchez & David Kyzer.

In an uncharacteristic move, the Sanders' shook both the champions' hands and politely asked if they could have a title match. Sanchez said that since he was now 100% owner of the company (a FACT unknown to anyone outside of him prior to this moment), he had the authourity to make a decision on this and he decided, "No!" The Sanders again calmly and politely requested the match and this time David Kyzer said they should poll the audience. The SWCW fans all seemed to be in agreement with X-Rated and again the Syndicate were met with a negative response. They seemed to accept this answer, but as the champions turned to leave the ring, the familiar blindside attack occurred and the Syndicate took over on X-Rated. Armed with a baseball bat and an axe handle, Scott & Shawn Sanders tied David Kyzer to the ropes and tried to force him to accept the match. After much physical abuse, Kyzer accepts and the Syndicate send one last message by hitting Sanchez's weak knee with the baseball bat before Tyson Jaymes & SWCW All-American Champion Drake Gallows came to the rescue.

The next day, feeling confident (or perhaps a little peaked), the champions tried to get out of a tag team title defence against the Sharpe Brothers. Chaz Sharpe & Rich Sharpe were coming for some revenge, but the Syndicate seemingly wanted nothing to do with the match. Instead, before it began, the twins offered the deaf brothers an envelope full of cash. The brothers refused the bribe, so the Sanders played another ace up their sleeve by bringing in KHCC radio announcer Chris Cahoon as the special referee for their match. Again, the Sharpes gave it everything they had and seemed on their way to winning the match, but a distracted, inexperienced referee combined with the illicit use of the axe handle during the match resulted in the Sanders walking away still BYEW Tag Team Champions.

Although a verbal agreement was made by X-Rated to defend the belts at the next SWCW show, that appears to have been overruled. Instead, X-Rated will once again face Les Mayne & Rick Russo for the titles. This should only serve to further anger the Jersey duo and whoever they next face will likely taste the wrath from that situation.
