Savannah "Ted" Russell, who wrestled in the 80s as Savannah Jack, best known for his run as UWF television champion and feud with Freebird Buddy Roberts over the UWF television title in 1986 and 1987, passed away on Tuesday.

No details are available regarding the cause of death at this time. He was 63, and been in poor health due to heart related issues since his late 30s.

Jack got a major push from Bill Watts as one of his many attempts to try and recreate the magic of Junkyard Dog from a few years earlier. He was a former college football player at the University of Minnesota and martial arts expert, both of which played into his wrestling character.

His career for the most part ended shortly after the UWF, owned by Bill Watts, was sold to Jim Crockett Promotions in 1987.
