Fury Surpasses Anarchy In Best-of-5 Falls Match, Earns US Title Shot

Posted: Jan 22nd 2012 By: CMBurnham

The long-winded, pompous Christopher Fury finally made his intentions known in the UWE as he defeated Anarchy 2nd in a Best-of-5 Falls Match to become the #1 contender to the UWE Title.

Fury returned Oklahoma rings this year and made Anarchy his prime target, performing sneak attacks during interviews and matches, but refusing to actually step in the ring 1-on-1 with him. Anarchy finally managed to force his nemesis into a match in October and came out victorious there. "Going into the first match at Showdown, I was focused on not making mistakes like I did the previous year against Ray Martinez", said Anarchy in exclusive comments for Oklafan. "Going into our return match at Ring War I was confident after the win at Showdown and thought that I had him figured out and then he blindsided me by getting DQed and trashing my shoulder."

That rematch was a Match-of-the-Year candidate and saw a refocused Fury target Anarchy's left arm through the whole match. There were plenty of near-falls on both sides, but every time Fury had an opportunity, he would go back to work on the left arm of Anarchy. Still Anarchy would not submit. After Anarchy missed a crossbody block, Fury locked in Top Armbar and yanked back. Anarchy was able to grab the ropes, but Fury refused to break the hold and was ultimately DQed. Knowing his opponent lay weakened and vulnerable in front of him, Fury declared that he could easily beat him 3 times in one night. After Fury left the ring, Anarchy rose and took the microphone, accepting the challenge to a 3-out-of-5 Falls match in February.

Fury also provided Oklafan with some insight to his thinking: "It is my mission to open the eyes of the audience and to enlighten them to the misery that surrounds their everyday life. Anarchy was a wrestler that enabled them to sit back and let life continue, status quo, by winning and wrestling "for the people." They actually look up to him! I makes my blood boil. So I wanted to use the match with Anarchy to prove that I am the better man, to prove that I should be the one these people looked up to, and to prove that it's the message; not the messenger that should be followed."

That message was "Win at all costs" and that's what Fury set out to do, even though it looked like he wasn't interested in winning at all at first. Within a few seconds of the opening bell, Fury produced a police baton and again targeted the left arm of Anarchy, earning himself another DQ. But with damage done, Fury quickly tied the match at 1 fall each after hitting the CrossRhodes. The 3rd fall was much longer as Fury doled out punishment and Anarchy tried to fight through the pain. But with that left arm damaged, there was only so long he could resist and after Fury locked on a cross-arm breaker, there was nothing he could do but surrender. With his back to the wall, Anarchy knew he had to come through and tie the match at 2 falls each in order to force the deciding fall and forced Fury to suffer some of his own punishment by executing a bridging hammerlock and getting a submission out of it. With everything then on the line, both men brought whatever they had left and more to the match, looking for that one moment to captialise and walk away victorious. As both men ascended to the top rope and jockeyed for position, Anarchy attempted a Super Back suplex, but Fury rolled through and won the deciding fall in the middle of the ring.

"I knew at SuperClash there would be no lucky breaks, no coward's way out, and there would be an end to this... but I didn't expect the ending I got. Like him or not. he's a dedicated student of the game. He's insanely intelligent and very resilient, but I still can't stand his "better than you" attitude. He lives in a fantasy land where everyone should strive to be Christopher Fury, whereas I believe you should just be you.

This victory earned Fury a title opportunity against UWE United States Champion Brandon Walker. Could Fury be poised to end 2012's first Oklahoma Triple Crown Champion Only a month after he earned that position? As usual, Fury's opinion of his championship opponent in February is less than his opinion of himself: "I have not seen another wrestler get away with the amount of cheap hits that Walker does with the audience. It's the idea of the message is greater than the messenger. Walker spreads a message of violence, coldness, and cheap tactics, and yet the audience still cheers this man. I will take away that US title from Walker, and prove to the UWE that Christopher Fury is the better person. I will do my absolute worst to Walker. I am the mirror to society. I will show them their faces."

As for Anarchy, even though he came up short in his effort to best Fury and earn a US Title shot, he's preparing to move on to other issues in the UWE. "Moving on into 2012, there are some big things planned in UWE and I want to be in the middle of it. The Commission is crumbling around Princess Brittani and that's leaving a lot of power to be picked up. I have been wanting to reclaim MY UWE title and I am waiting to see how that pans out. There are some other issues 'Id like to deal with. There are things left unsettled between Fury and myself but for now I'm focusing on the future and not the past. I'm not gonna let one hard fought loss define my whole year. I will taste UWE gold again AND I'm sure we will see each other in the ring again sooner or later."

It's possible that both men may also cross paths in SRPW as Fury recently made his entrance there, challenging SRPW Champion Jake O'Brien for his title.
