Big Update on Ric Flair's TNA Situation
Posted: Jan 20th 2012 By: mikeiles
This comes as no big surprise, as a week ago it was announced Ric Flair would be inducted for a second time into WWE's Hall of Fame.
Following the announcement, Flair made sure to let fans know that he plans to be onstage at WWE's induction ceremony?even though he is working for rival TNA. Many fans have had mixed emotions about Flair being a part of this ceremony.
Most fans feel Flair has every right to go, while others feel he should be loyal to TNA and continue to help build their brand. Either way it now appears TNA has responded to this announcement by potentially pulling Flair from an upcoming live event in Massachusetts.
According to a wrestlezone.com reader:
I saw your post noting that RVD and Mr. Anderson...have been added to the TNA events in Massachusetts. I?m going to one of the shows and noticed TNA is no longer advertising Ric Flair for the Plymouth event. He was supposed to be there, (not advertised for Worcester or Lowell) for a meet-and-greet, but is no longer on the poster or advertisements for the show. Just thought it was interesting timing with the WWE HOF announcement.
After reading this, I decided to follow up on my own to see if there was something the reader may have missed. After further review, it does look as if TNA has pulled "The Nature Boy" from that event.
Now at this point all we can do is speculate that TNA is either punishing or distancing themselves from Flair. Either way, this could be the beginning of the end of Flair's TNA tenure.
I am personally torn, especially if Flair does leave TNA. As a fan of TNA, I felt they were finally starting to use their legends properly. Flair was doing a solid job of managing and helping put over Gunner. As of late, I have felt Flair could be a solid manager and create a non-horsemanesque stable.
Unfortunately, Flair's managing credibility was tossed to the side after the whole Fourtune debacle. In the end, if Flair goes back to the WWE, I hope they play to his strengths and either make him a manager or ambassador for the company.
I do realize Flair turned down an ambassador position several years ago. I just feel like now may be the time for him to reevaluate and start helping the future of the business before there isn't one.
