Little Man On A Big Mission
Posted: Dec 4th 2011 By: CMBurnham
For most people, it's an entertaining diversion and sub-genre of pro wrestling.
For some, it's serious business. And the ones in it are out to try and bring respect to their profession.
Midget wrestling.
The Extreme Midget Wrestling Federation is a national touring company, but is based out of central Oklahoma. And one of the main competitors is a man known as Little Rampage.
Rampage trained in Midwest City and had his first forays into the pro wrestling world through MSWA, competing in singles and 6-man tag team action 2 years ago.
Now, Rampage appears all over the world, wrestling the likes of Skinny Timmy, Bo Duke and Little Nasty Boy.
This past Saturday, EMWF returned to the homefields of Ada and presented it's first event in quite a while. The show opened with a match between Rampage and Skinny Timmy. Timmy came out first and ran down the crowd, who quickly voiced their disapproval. But when Rampage arrived, it was a different story as the crowd went nuts. Rampage took a long time to circle the ring, actually going into the crowd to make sure that all his fans got a chance to shake his hand and support him as he went into the match.
As this was "Extreme" midget wrestling, the weapons came out quick. Both men battered each other with cookies sheets, trash cans and other sundry weapons. Referee Mike 2 had trouble containing all the action, despite being twice as large as either of the men involved.
In a controversial finish, Rampage pinned Skinny Timmy and Mike Two counted to 3, but discovered the foot was on the rope after the pin. Despite trying to restart the match, the decision stood and that's when Little Nasty Boy appeared. He said he had no opponent for the night and challenged Rampage to a match later. Rampage agreed and the match was set for after intermission.
When the time came for their match, Little Nasty Boy arrogantly strutted to the ring. As he made his way around, the crowd got angrier and angrier and were thrilled when Little Rampage came out on the entrance ramp. The crowd erupted as their hero came to the ring, prepared to do combat with the vile Nasty Boy. Although this match did not involve as many weapons as the previous one, it was still ultra-violent as both men brawled all the way around the ring for quite a while. In the end, though, Rampage relied on his wrestling background to gain a victory with a Sunset Flip.
At the end of the night, all 5 midget competitors took part in a Gauntlet Battle Royal where eliminations occurred by way of pinfall. Action took place all over with Little Nasty Boy attacking Little Rampage with a plunger while Skinny Timmy set up a ladder in the entrance way, climbing it to dive off and land on Bo Duke. That was followed by Little Nasty Boy suplexing Skinny Timmy on the rampway.
In a flurry of action, the match ended rather abruptly as Bo Duke schoolboyed Little Nasty Boy, then was schoolboyed by Little Rampage. That made the final two people in the match the same ones who opened it and Skinny Timmy gained a measure of revenge for himself as he pinned Little Rampage to win the whole event.
With as much action as their full-size compatriots, the EMWF brought a night of great action to Ada. Little Rampage has come a far way from his early days in MSWA and seems determined to bring respect and dignity to a profession that has long been all about comedy. It's a big mission for the little men, but with perseverance, they'll pull through and prove something to everyone around.
