WWE News: Mick Foley No Longer Advertised for a "Rock Reunion"
Posted: Oct 30th 2011 By: mikeiles
If the WWE ever did an 8.4 rating again, Vince McMahon would probably have a coronary.
Foley, as Mankind, did the famous "This Is Your Life" segment with The Rock. The result was one of the highest rated segments the WWE ever pulled down.
The Rock 'n' Sock Connection always had some solid chemistry, so I'm certain the WWE was looking to rekindle some of that magic on November 14th. However, those plans have been put on hold.
Raw will be doing a three hour special from the TD Garden in Boston, MA. The Rock is advertised to be there, with Foley later being advertised for the show. But today, word came across via ProWrestling.net that Foley is no longer advertised for the event. Coincidentally, the show is no longer advertised as a "Rock Reunion."
He is still rumored to appear on Raw on November 21st.
Some questions come up as to why, but I think part of it comes down to simple logistics. Foley is scheduled to be in the United Kingdom up through the 12th of November doing his UK Comedy Tour. By the time he flies back to the states, it could be as late as Monday afternoon.
Also, given the heavy hype being placed on John Cena and The Rock teaming together at Survivor Series, Foley's presence was hardly needed. Given the three hour time slot and the Rock being advertised well in advance, Foley would not have likely sparked a pop in the ratings for the show.
One thing to note is that I doubt Foley was expected to return the WWE full time, thanks to other commitments like his Comedy Tour and charity events going through early next year.
The one continuing rule with sporting events: Card is subject to change.
