Can He "Punk Out" the WWE's Top Liar?

For the most part, all anyone really has in this world is their word. And when that word is questioned, life can be very difficult for the person involved.

Recent actions in the WWE have caused C. M. Punk to call both Kevin Nash and WWE COO Triple H into question. He believes someone is lying. He isn't sure who, but he's narrowed it down to them. Perhaps it's both. Or perhaps it's someone associated with them, like Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley or John Laurenitas. At this point, Punk's not even too concerned with who it is. It just keeps him from having what should be his.

At Summerslam, Punk faced John Cena, with both of them claiming to be the WWE RAW World Champion. Triple H was the special referee. But the unexpected arrival of Kevin Nash proved to be the turning point as he appeared out of nowhere and attacked Punk after Punk had seemingly proven he was the better of the two men. Alberto Del Rio then did what Punk had done 3 years previously in Oklahoma City: he took advantage of a prone opponent and cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase, pinning Punk after a brief match to win his first WWE RAW World Title.

Punk is convinced that Triple H was the source of a mystery text that Nash says he received, although Triple H denied that furiously on RAW the night after SummerSlam. And the mystery still wasn't resolved when Triple H came out to open RAW in Tulsa on Monday. After announcing what many are interpreting as the end of the Brand Extension, Triple H went on to call Nash out and address what he perceived as lies from his close friend. But it wasn't Nash who arrived. Instead, C. M. Punk came out and congratulated Helmsley on his performance, calling it "Oscar level". He then reminded Triple H that this wasn't a movie and that he wanted Helmsley to stop lying and just admit that he and Nash had been in cahoots together at SummerSlam.

At that point, Nash arrived to the familiar strains of the old nWo theme. He got in the ring and admitted that he had lied. He'd had his driver call Laurenitas to say he got in a wreck. He admitted this was wrong, but that Punk was a bigger problem. He then turned to HHH and asked him what kind of man he was. HHH quickly replied that he's the kind of man who doesn't expect to be lied to. This means that he can't have Nash around, so he asks him to leave. But in a surprise announcement, Nash revealed that he had been signed to a lucrative contract and the only way for HHH to get rid of him was to fire him in front of everyone. Add to that the FACT that the contract is a guaranteed one, so if he was fired, Nash would just sit home and collect.

HHH, after thinking briefly decided that he would not fire Nash...and that was as much as Punk could take as he started to feign the act of vomiting all over the ring. He stopped in the middle to tell HHH that he was "acting", just like HHH was. He wondered if anyone could possibly believe this, as it was obvious to him that HHH couldn't get his hands dirty, so he hired Nash. He even brought up Nash & HHH's old group, the Kliq, saying that was the sound that Nash's knees made when he walked acrosst the ring AND the sound that TV remotes made at home when Nash was on the screen. At that point, Nash demanded that HHH book him against Punk for Night of Champions. Punk endorsed this idea, but HHH seemed reluctant, prompting Punk to suggest that perhaps HHH doesn't wear the pants in the family, but the panties instead. Punk & HHH stared each other down for almost a minute after that before HHH said that the match would be official and then brought back the DX moment by saying he had just "two words" for both of them.

Punk was signed to face The Miz later that evening and did so. He appeared to be on his way to victory, signalling for the GTS when R-Truth came to the ring to join his partner in a 2-on-1 beatdown. Punk was able to remove Miz from the equation and give R-Truth the GTS, but then Kevin Nash reappeared. This distracted Punk long enough to allow The Miz to reenter the ring and with a revived R-Truth, the 2-on-1 began again. This time, though, the 2-on-1 didn't end as well for Punk as Nash punctuated it with a Jacknife powerbomb.

In a moment that the live crowd didn't see, HHH changed the SummerSlam match at the end of the show, making himself Punk's opponent. The next night on the live Smackdown, HHH and Punk met to sign the contract for this match. After some heated words between the two involving how both want to improve the WWE, Kevin Nash again appeared, charging towards the ring. Nash cleared the table with the contracts and Punk shoved Triple H aside and started going in on Nash with kicks and punches. He had him in the corner when Triple H pulled him off and sent him flying. Punk charged them both and ate a big boot from Nash. Then Triple H shoved Nash and Nash sent Triple H flying with a return shove. He stood over him looking very angry and then walked off.

No answers, only further aggrivation in the situation. Notaby silent on the matter are Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley and John Laurenitas, who have been named as possible suspects by both Nash and HHH. Even Vince McMahon's name is being thrown around by internet fans as to who might have sent the text that started this whole affair. This sport is ego driven and eventually the person who caused all these problems is going to have to come forward to satiate himself. Perhaps at Night of Champions, the real liar will be revealed.
