Two Titles Lost And A Double Champion Crowned

A few months ago, Oklafan posted an article entitled "Campeon Dual", about how Ray Martinez had been awarded the UWE Tag Team Titles when Brandon Walker's half of the belts was taken from him and given to Martinez by Princess Brittani just because she wanted controlf of the belts. Then, after Ryan Reed defeated Rolling Thunder for the UWE United States Title in a brutal No DQ match, Brittani again intervened and gave Martinez a match against Reed, which Martinez handily won. That was 2 titles quickly gained. Then add to that the SRPW United States Title which again Martinez never defeated anyone for. It was just handed to him.
Perhaps someone should have told Martinez about the idea of "easy come, easy go". Marttinez is now down to 1 title when he just had 3. And another dual champion has been crowned for Oklahoma.
On July 1st, ComPro Showtime Champion Brandon Walker was granted a shot at the UWE US title. The longstanding issues between Walker and Martinez meant that this match was something Walker had wanted for a long time. But, as always when it comes to Martinez, there was a catch. The special guest referee was Princess Brittani. And as expected, she did nothing to mask her lack of desire to call things down the middle. When Maritinez made pinfalls, she was right on top of things, counting Walker's shoulders down. But when Walker had pinfalls in place, Brittani was checking her nails or her shoelaces or pretty much doing anything EXCEPT calling the match. In an interesting turn of events, Walker got Martinez unconscious and laid him chest-first across the ropes. As Brittani went to go check on him, Walker moved in and gave them the 918 silmutaneously. Walker then covered Martinez, grabbed Brittani's unconscious arm and hit the mat 3 times. It was a non-title victory, but a victory nonetheless.
In a normal wrestling world, that non-title victory would have qualified Walker for a title shot at the next show. But since this is UWE and Princess Brittani calls the shots, Walker wasn't scheduled to face Martinez. By happenstance, Walker won the "Fans Choice" ballot to face UWE Champion Jon Cross...in ANOTHER non-title match. Walker knew that two non-title victories would be almost unignorable and set out to defeat another UWE title holder. And during this match, Ray Martinez came out to observe the match. Walker took command by hitting a springboard legdrop on Cross and then went for the 918. But Martinez jumped up on the apron to distract Walker, letting Cross recover and sucker punch Walker for the victory. After Cross left the ring, Walker took the microphone and said this was the 3rd time that Martinez had interfered in a match of his. He acknowledged that Ray had been in the business almost twice as long as he had, but also pointed out that Martinez had lost almost twice as many times as Walker. Walker then threw out the big challenge. He wanted a shot at the UWE US Title. He would put his UWE career on the line. Martinez added the stipulation that it should be a No DQ match. Walker agreed and the match was on.
Despite having competed in a grueling match just a few minutes prior, Walker was certainly up for the challenge of winning another belt. The No DQ stipulation allowed Martinez to make use of the title belt and Ray wasted little time going for it. He charged in to try and slam Walker in the head with the belt, but Walker ducked, which left Ray in the corner. Walker hit a shoulder smash, leading Ray to stumble out of the corner and into a dropkick., Walker then hit a spinkick to the head for the win! Much of the locker room poured out to congratulate Walker after the victory, although there was a brief staredown between Walker and The Mercenary, who had announced that he was the #1 contender to the US title earlier in the evening. Even Jon Cross returned, although as usual he was only concerned about himself. He congratulated Walker on winning another secondary title and being "2nd best" in the company.
Earlier in the night, when Martinez face Fuel in a Chain Match, the announce team informed the fans that Martinez & Brett Taylor had been stripped of the UWE Tag Team Titles for not defending them within the 30-day limit. Truth be told, Martinez and Taylor NEVER defended the tag team titles together. But Princess Brittani did force Taylor and Walker to defend the belts against Kyle Everlast & Robbie Awesome at the April 30th event. That was the last recorded title defence. So, in one night, Martinez lost 2 titles (although he still holds the SRPW United States Title). And Walker became a dual champion, something that Martinez once experienced as well. Plus, Walker still holds the Sure Shot contract which he can cash in at any time to gain a shot at any ComPro Title he wants.
