Double D Finds Redemption In Being Heavyweight Champion

Double D Finds Redemption In Being Heavyweight Champion

Posted: Aug 12th 2011 By: CMBurnham

Redemption began with the arrival of Johnny Z into the ring. As Johnny started to speak about Redemption, the Future Hall of Famers arrived. Bad Brad Michaels ran down the idea of Seth Allen joining the IZW Hall of Fame, saying that if anyone deserved to be inducted, it was his tag team partner, John O?Malley and no one else. He said that since they hadn?t been given a match, they were leaving the building. Johnny then said that if they left he would strip them of the Tag Team Championships. Gary Tool then arrived - in ring gear. He said that he had spent the week repairing a relationship that needed it and introduced his new partner?Bernie D. It seems that Coach Gary Tool had rethought Bernie?s recent offer and decided to help him out by challenging the Future Hall of Famers in a match for the Championships. The match started and it seemed to the crowd like Gary Tool hadn?t lost a step. This was further proven when he and Bernie D hit a tag team move to win and become the new IZW Tag Team Champions. It was quite the moment to not only have IZW Hall of Famer Gary Tool back, but also to win the Tag Team Championships with another IZW veteran, Bernie D. But what will Bad Brad Michaels and John O?Malley have to say about their loss? In the evening?s other tag match, Nemesis faced off against Aerial Assault for Number One Contendership to the Tag Team Championships. After numerous innovative tag team moves during the match, Aerial Assault was able to hit a frogsplash/top rope leg drop combo (The Aerial Assault) to become number one contenders. Aerial Assault may be first in line for Gary Tool and Bernie D?s Championships, but what will happen when these four teams continue to cross paths?

The ?Awesome One? Kevin Morgan and the ?Oklahoma Anaconda? Jordan Jacobs looked to settle their differences at Redemption as well. Jacobs locked the big man in a triangle choke and it looked like he was about to tap out. But suddenly, Morgan showed his strength by hoisting Jacobs up into the air and slamming him down with his brutal one-handed spinebuster for the win. Two other men who looked to settle their differences were the ?Widowmaker? Angel Williams and Wage. The two monsters traded heavy blows, neither man quite gaining the advantage. Eventually, Williams charged Wage in the corner but Wage met him with a blow to the head from his chain, causing a DQ. After his previous attacks on Williams, why did Wage choose to end the match this way? Surely, the ?Widowmaker? will come looking to settle the score.

The ?Real Deal? Aaron Neil faced off against ?Mr. Money? Randy Price with significant stipulations on the line. If Randy Price won, he would become the 2011 Impact Player of the Year. But if Neil won, he would get the shot at the Heavyweight Championship he earned at Coronation on September 17th at the Danny Hodge Invitational on Live iPPV at GFL.TV. With these important things on the line, both competitors went at it hard. During the match, IZW Commissioner Jeff Wolfenbarger distracted the referee while Price grabbed the Impact Player of the Year Trophy and tried to hit Neil with it. He missed and Neil locked him in the Boston Crab, making Price tap out, but the referee was still distracted. Neil went to grab Jeff which allowed Price to hit him with a low blow and a piledriver but Neil grabbed the ropes just in time. As Price went for a second Piledriver The Real Deal caught him with the Real Drill but Jeff pulled the referee out of the ring while he was counting. Neil chased Jeff around the ring but Jeff slid in and pulled the referee in between them. The referee did not see as Price finally did hit Neil with the trophy and the piledriver for the win. As a result, Price not only became the 2011 Impact Player of the Year, but Neil lost his guaranteed Championship shot. Price will surely have plenty to say about his win, but what will Neil have to say about losing his shot at the Heavyweight Championship?

The main event of Redemption saw IZW Heavyweight Champion Jermaine Johnson w/ Jeff Wolfenbarger face Impact Division Champion Double D w/ Erica in a Title vs. Title match. Double D wanted nothing more than to become Heavyweight Champion and it was obvious to the crowd during the match. But after a long match that could?ve gone either way, Double D hit Johnson with his top rope cross body and the crowd held their breath as the referee counted. But in the middle of the count, Jeff rang the bell. He then got on the mic and said that the time limit ran out and the match was a time limit draw, attempting to screw Double D out of the win. But then entered Johnny Z. he asked the crowd if they wanted five more minutes. They definitely did, as they chanted for 10 more mins. Johnny not only gave them that, but announced that he would be the special referee. Johnson and Double D went right back into it. Jeff tried to interfere but Johnny punched him in the face. Right after, Double D hit Johnson with a sunset flip but Johnson did not fall. After knocking his younger brother Jeff of the apron with a right hand, Johnny then booted Johnson in the face, knocking him over and allowing Double D to get the pin. Johnny counted 1-2-3 and there was a new Heavyweight Champion. Not only did Double D finally become Champion, but he continued to hold the Impact Division Championship, making him IZW?s first ever dual singles Champion. It seems as if Double D has finally found Redemption after the last turbulent year of his career. Will IZW as we know it change now that Double D is Champion?
