Doberman's Protests Answered - Oklahoma Championship Questions Resolved
Posted: Aug 3rd 2011 By: mikeiles
From the Texas Independent Wrestling League Executive Committee:
After countless hours of testimony and deliberation as well as meeting with representatives for ?The Oklahoma Savior? Doberman and ?Maniac? Mike Brooks, the Executive Committee of the Texas Independent Wrestling League has made the following decision:
On Doberman?s first claim that ?green mist? was used illegally in the match, we find this claim to be invalid. The match was billed as a ?Red River Death Match? with means translates to a no disqualification match.
On the claim that the results of the match should be overturned due to outside interference, we find this claim to be invalid on the same basis as the first claim and because both contestants had persons interfere on both their behalves.
On the claim that the residents of the city of Rice were not worthy of an Oklahoma championship title defense, we find this to be just silly and inane posturing.
On the claim that the Oklahoma championship cannot be officially defended outside of Oklahoma (we took the liberty of modifying this statement from Doberman?s original claim that was too incendiary and profanity laced to reprint with comments exclusive to the state of Texas). This was the main point of contention, and was a legitimate grievance. We looked historically at other organizations and we found that organizations like the National Wrestling Alliance, American Wrestling Association, World Wrestling Entertainment, World Class Championship Wrestling and Mid-South (Universal Wrestling Federation) have had titles defended outside of their prospective areas, for example:
-The WCW (and later the WWE) has allowed the US Title to be defended in countries other than the United States
-The WWE European Championship was regularly defended in the US and Canada
-The UWF/NWA Western States Heritage Championship was regularly defended outside of the Western US
-The AWA America?s Championship was regularly defended in Japan
-The World Class American and Texas singles and tag-team championships had been defended both outside of Texas and outside the United States.
As a result of this historical evidence, the Executive Committee has determined that all claims that have been filed by Doberman have been dismissed and that the official TIWL Oklahoma Champion is ?Maniac? Mike Brooks.
We also recognize that Doberman has the right to a rematch as soon as possible. We have been contacted by ?Maniac? Mike Brooks and he has informed the Committee of a match that he will be in against Doberman on Sunday, August 7th in another local promotion called Texas Wrestling Entertainment. This notification was accompanied by the unusual request by Brooks to have the TIWL recognize it as an official Oklahoma championship match. In an effort to be fair to both parties and to prevent any further protesting by Doberman, the Committee is making the extraordinary step of recognizing this bout only as a TIWL Oklahoma championship bout. This match will be in Palestine Texas, bell time is 6pm according to Brooks.
The Executive Committee wishes both the champion Mike Brooks and the #1 contender Doberman the best of luck in their newly sanctioned Texas Independent Wrestling League championship bout.
