TNA Impact Wrestling: Did Steve Borden "Sting" Himself with the Wrong Decision?

TNA Impact Wrestling: Did Steve Borden "Sting" Himself with the Wrong Decision?

Posted: Jul 30th 2011 By: mikeiles

Don?t you hate it when you?re stuck at cross road; with a difficult decision to make but at the end of the day you pick a direction...then later on down the road you question the direction you had taken?

Yes we have all been there; it?s not easy making a difficult decision but what if it was a decision that is the ending of your legacy or career?

No matter what we do in life that we love to do; at the end of the day we want to go out either on top or simply ending on a great note.

Sting had a decision to make a while back after he became a free agent once again; the choices either resign with TNA (Impact) Wrestling or go to a place where he has never been?WWE.

It would seem to be an easy choice right?

Fans everywhere expected the stinger to sign with WWE, to complete his iconic classic career and eventually have historic match with the Undertaker at WrestleMania 27.

But this was not an easy choice for Sting (Steve Borden); no matter what at the end of the day you want to be comfortable, you want that place to feel like home.

This was one factor to Sting?s decision as TNA became a home for the former NWA, WCW and now Impact Wrestling star.

Another key factor was respect, which we all want at the end of the day.

Sting had explained in an interview that WCW wrestlers (after the WWE had bought the company out), that the guys remaining from the WCW roster where made out as ?peons? in the WWE.

Sting felt that he would not be respected and ultimately his legacy would have been spit on.

If you look at the guys who where remaining on the WCW roster; there were no major names remaining that helped build up the WCW brand; besides Booker T.

But even Bookers T run did not start till close the end of WCW even though he was a five time champion.

With all of those factors dancing in Steve Borden?s mind, he decided to go the safe route and stay home which had become TNA (Impact) Wrestling.

But was this the right decision?

Right now Sting has become champion, battled against Hogan/Eric Bischoff?s regime Immortal and has even become a clown!
why so serious?

Besides the clown part we have seen this all before with Sting, he has battled the NWO, won the WCW title, and reinvented himself.

Yes I agree, you need to reinvent yourself to spice things up and keep fans intrigued but as a clown/Joker?

Yes the late, great Heath Ledger did wonders with the Joker role in the Batman flick: Dark Knight.

You would think Sting?s adaptation of this role would work as Ledger made the role dark & twisted!

The same when Sting adopted the Crow persona in the 90?s which made him mysterious and dark.

But if you ask me this has made the Stinger look like a joke.

It?s kind of funny if you think about it; Sting was worried of WWE tarnishing his legacy but he is running around the Impact Zone all whacked out!

Yes I know its part of the current story-line, which looks like it will culminate into a final showdown between Hogan and Sting at the Annual TNA Bound for Glory event.

Okay so instead of going to the WWE and possibly instantly enter the Hall of Fame, have a classic match with Undertaker at the grandest stage of them all and help build up stars of tomorrow; He decides to have another match with the decaying Hulkster!

Yeah sounds like fun?

Not to bash on TNA Impact Wrestling because they have been doing great as of late with the great in-ring action; but come on we do not need Hulk Hogan back in the ring.

That is a whole different story all alone...so let?s get back to Sting.

So do you think Sting is regretting his decision?

As much as the fans would want him to, this is highly doubtful.

As long as Sting is doing what he truly wants, at the end of the day that all that matters!

It would have been nice to see the Sting end his career in the WWE though, but it seems to be too little too late.

But you never know in the world of sports entertainment.
