In the ?Believe It Or Not? category, WWE RAW head writer Brian Gerwitz never saw Ric Flair in WCW and doesn?t consider him a good promo.
On Monday, sources close to WWE Hall of Famer ?Rowdy? Roddy Piper contacted WWE.com with a further update on his condition. Doctors have discovered and removed a mass in Piper?s spine, which was causing discomfort in the legend?s back. At this time, Piper and his family are awaiting results of a biopsy. Ron Simmons took Piper?s place in the Survivor Series Match Sunday.
Haystacks Calhoun was referenced on "The Simpsons" Sunday, November 19th. Lisa Simpson was doing a report on Moe, and Moe asked "Why do you want to do a report on me. Why don't you do a report on a great American like Haystacks Calhoun?" Calhoun was a big attraction in the 60s as the 601 pound country boy from Morgans Corner, Arkansas. His career went downhill as a big touring attraction when Andre the Giant hit it big around 1973.
Last night during the U.K. coverage of Monday Night Football, they went to the studio during the second quarter interviewing Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back Ronde Barber. The hosts of the U.K. feed said it wasn't Ronde Barber in the booth, but rather his twin brother (and New York Giants runningback) Tiki Barber who was pretending to be him as his brother was pretending to be him on the field. Host Mike Carlson (long-time Observer reader so there's your connection) compared it to the Killer Bees, mentioning Jim Brunzell and Brian Blair by name, doing a switch.
Jim Ross signed a new contract with WWE prior to going on the air for Monday Night RAW last week. Terms of the contract were not made public. Ross said the agreement was ?win-win for everyone?. He still enjoys what he does, but wants to take things 1 year at a time.
Danny Hodge, Ted DiBiase & Roddy Piper are among those who will be inducted into the New York Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame over the weekend of May 18 & 19.
Finally, Oklafan received a cryptic message from Dexter Hardaway. He said that in a couple of weeks, he would be issuing a statement regarding the future of his career.
