Law And Order Restored To MSWA
Posted: Jun 18th 2011 By: CMBurnham
MSWA fans thought their federation nightmare was over back in April when Impact, Inc. lost a 3-on-3 Elimination match and were forced to leave the company.
They were wrong.
While the bully tactics of Johnny Z and company ended, there was still one associate of theirs that remained. MSWA commissioner Shawn McKeaigg was so angry with the fans of MSWA that he began to abuse his power like never before. He fired Greatness on Demand when they lost the MSWA Tag Team Titles to BYEW Tag Team Champions The New Age Syndicate. He pushed Kevin Morgan into a corner and forced him to put his career on the line in a 4-Way Elimination Match for the vacant MSWA Mid-South title. And he clearly stated that, since he had lost his best friends, MSWA fans were going to lose anyone they cared about in the company as well.
That line of behaviour continued when the MSWA show began on June 12, 2011. McKeaigg opened the show by announcing that he had fired MSWA Mid-South Champion Double D. And he would continue to exercise this power because, quite frankly, no one could stop him. That was where he was wrong as Oklafan.com senior editor C. M. Burnham then emerged from the dressing room area and entered the ring. Burnham asked the crowd if they were tired of hearing McKeaigg talk and the erupting applause confirmed that they had had enough. Burnham said that he had spoken to the MSWA board of directors because he had watched McKeaigg run the company into the ground and was tired of it. He then revealed that, while the board of directors couldn't fire McKeaigg, they could appoint someone to help guide him in his decisions and that person was Burnham. McKeaigg was furious and said that he didn't need the help and he could do the job perfectly fine himself. Burnham said he kind of thought McKeaigg would say that, so he had another idea. Since this was a wrestling show, he proposed resolving it with a wrestling match. But since neither of them were wrestlers, they would each have to pick representatives. If McKeaigg's rep won, he got uncontested control of the company and he could make Burnham do anything: sell concessions, scrub toilets, whatever he could think of. But, if Burnham's rep won, then he became the new commissioner of MSWA and McKeaigg was fired! McKeaigg says he has an idea for a representative, but he'll reveal it later in the show and left the ring area.
Burnham returned a few matches later and called McKeaigg out to demand that he reveal the who he had chosen. McKeaigg said that he had picked MWA Tag Team, IZW Tag Team & MSWA Oklahoma Champion Max McGuirk. Burnham was impressed with this choice, noting that Max was a former WWE developmental talent. He then said that the only thing better than being developmental was being an actual WWE Superstar and that was who he had chosen. His representative was Rodney Mack! McKeaigg was irate, cutting a promo on Mack and letting everyone know that he was certain he was going to come out of this match still in full control.
Both men entered the ring to announce their respective charges. McGuirk arrived dancing, gyrating and generally being disgusting, as is usual in his MSWA appearances. Rodney Mack came out to an erpution of barks, which was appropriate to the man who hails from The Dogpound. While McKeaigg might have been confident in his choice, McGuirk didn't seem all that certain that he was going be successful and kept stalling by staying in the ropes for much of the early part of the match. When he finally decided to begin to compete, he had some help from come taped knucks which were stuffed in his tights. He used those knucks on several occasions, eventually connecting hard enough to daze Mack and gain a pinfall. It seemed that all the efforts that Burnham had gone to had failed as Mack lay dazed on the mat and McGuirk & McKeaigg celebrated in the ring. But then all the fans began to scream at referee Mark Wilson to check McGuirk's hand, as he had not put away the taped knucks. Shawn & Max tried to claim that it was just athletic tape which had come loose during the match. Wilson asked Burnham if he had seen McGuirk use the foreign object and Burnham said he thought he had, but couldn't get a clear view of it while standing at ringside. Wilson then went to the crowd, who were all shouting different things. In a moment of good fortune, he called fellow referee Crazy Charlie out of the crowd and asked him what happened and Charlie revealed that McGuirk had used the knucks. That was all Wilson needed to know and he reversed the decision, awarding the match to Mack by DQ and installing Burnham as the new commissioner of MSWA.
The fans immediately began to sing their farewells to McKeaigg as Wilson and George Knight took him on both sides and escorted him from the building. Burnham then thanked the crowd and promised a new era of law and order in MSWA. And he certainly has his hands full as McKeaigg has left the company decimated in terms of talent and organisation. In the old west, law and order was only as prevalent as the strength of the man (or men) who chose to enforce it. MSWA now has someone who will abide by the rules and hopes to bring stability back to the fans of the longest existing current company in Oklahoma.
