Brutal Attack Heightens Family Feud!

Brutal Attack Heightens Family Feud!

Several months ago, Bernard Funk thought he had retired. He left the wrestling business and believed that he could just fade away. But the actions of his nephew, BYEW Caution and ComPro Champion Tim Rockwell, have now turned this from a one-on-one issue to something much more personal. Because additional family has now been involved.

Rockwell and Funk had an opportunity to resolve their issue in March at the MWA event. But nothing was settled as they both battled their way up the ramp, resulting in a Double Countout. In the intervening time, it seemed like perhaps the fences had been mended. Rockwell and Funk were on the same side in ComPro, fighting off Dutch Hagen and ComPro Showtime Champion Brandon Walker by reuniting Texas, Inc. They looked like they were planning on reentering SWCW, but that never really got off the ground. But this alliance seems only to have been temporary. And Rockwell's actions last Friday may have pushed things way too far for reconciliation.

Rockwell came to the ring with the Longhorn Assassin. He told the crowd that he had been backstage and saw something. He then exited the ring and made his way around to where Funk's wife and oldest son were sitting. Rockwell proceded to publicly humiliate his aunt and cousin, telling them Funk was worthless and a coward. He said Funk should have stayed retired like he would have been 7 years ago if Rockwell had had his way. These words brought Funk out from the back, but he didn't come to Rockwell. Instead, knowing that he was essentially paid muscle, Funk attacked the Longhorn Assassin first. This brought Rockwell into the ring as well and the two of them beat Funk down in the middle of the ring. Rockwell then dragged Funk to the rope and handcuffed him to the top rope (although the handcuffs would cause Rockwell problems as they didn't secure Funk the way he wanted them to.) And that was the point where everything went wrong.

Funk's son Josh then jumped into the ring to protect his father, but could do nothing to help. Instead, he became a victim just like his dad. While Funk was handcuffed to the rope, Josh was then made the target of the 2-on-1 beating which culminated in Rockwell giving his cousin a Cloverleaf DDT. Not wanting Funk to feel left out, Rockwell delivered one to Funk as well and left the father and son duo laying in the ring while he and the Assassin went back up the rampway.

Funk's son is NOT a licensed pro wrestler. He was just there to support his father in a match that never happened. For Rockwell to do what he did indicates that there are no lows he won't sink to. Since Rockwell didn't drag Josh into the ring, nothing can be done to Rockwell about his actions. But that still doesn't make it right. And Funk's veteran mentality is surely plotting a revenge the likes of which Rockwell can't even begin to plan for.
