Eldon Fundraiser Reunites Wrestling Legends

Eldon Fundraiser Reunites Wrestling Legends

2 wrestling legends are reuniting for a good cause.

8-Time World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race has invited 16-time Champ Ric ?The Nature Boy? Flair to a wrestling fundraiser in Eldon.

At one time, Race and Flair were household names in the world of wrestling. After retiring, Race opened a wrestling school in Eldon. The former champ said a show reuniting the ?King of the Ring? and ?The Nature Boy? will be his biggest show ever since returning to the Lake of the Ozarks. The wrestling event is a fundraiser for Eldon?s Dogwood Hills State School for special needs children.

Race said, ?Anytime you can do anything to help in situation like that, I think is a great thing. Overall, I think they are going to benefit, the City of Eldon and the community around it because of Flair being here.?

Race wants to make it clear that Flair is not coming to Eldon as a wrestler. Flair?s role is signing autographs and visiting with fans.

A promotional poster says there will be an appearance by Flair, but when Flair comes to town he usually makes more than an appearance.

After all of these years, Flair still loves the spotlight.

Race said, ?Anytime Flair is around the ring, he seems to somehow or another wind up in that ring. Who knows? I?ve been noted, when Flair?s around, to get a little on the excited side, too.?

Is it possible that there could be a rematch between the ?King of the Ring? and ?The Nature Boy?? We?ll have to wait and see.

The fundraiser featuring Race and Flair takes place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 12 at the Eldon Community Center.

Tickets are available at several locations throughout Eldon or by calling 573-392-4100.
