3 Is A Magic Number

3 Is A Magic Number

Posted: Mar 5th 2011 By: CMBurnham

Many cultures place a mystical quality to the number 3. And in the 1970s, the Schoolhouse Rock series produced a song called "3 Is a Magic Number". That seems to have been the inspiration for Cold Blooded Chris, who had to go through 3 different partners to find the right one to capture the ComPro Tag Team Titles from the Saints of Twilight.

At the beginning of 2011, C. B. C. made his return to wrestling, forming a tag team with Shaun Stratton called the Hardcore Playas. The pair scored a non-title upset over the Ignition and Reckless, immediately propelling themselves into contention for the titles. And they gained a level of respect that many teams might fight years for and not receive. So much so that the next week, the duo received a tag team title shot against TAP Tag Team Champions Excellence Personified. It was during this match that Stratton suffered an injury which prevented him from being able to challenge for the ComPro Tag Team Titles, leaving C. B. C. in need of a new partner.

C. B. C. issued an open challenge to SoTs on February 12, saying that he could partner with anyone in the back and defeat the champions. To everyone's surprise (including his own), the person who offered his services was Dustin Harp. Harp, who had little experience and was acknowledged as something of a joke by the ComPro fans, came bounding to the ring. C. B. C. looked on in disbelief, but the match was on. Despite having superior skill and more experience together, the twin champions were unable to capitalise and gain a win, so their friend Michael York, who accompanied them to ringside, grabbed one of the tag team belts and gave it to Reckless, who used it in the match, earning the champions a DQ loss. Once again, this prompted a rematch for the challengers, but once again, fate would seem to have different plans.

When time came for the match, Harp was not present. But this time C. B. C. had a back-up plan. And what a plan it was, as he contacted one of the best tag team wrestlers in Oklahoma at this time: current UWE Tag Team and MSWA Oklahoma Champion Max McGuirk. McGuirk brought a level of skill and expertise to the match that was surprising to the champions, but the winning moment came when C. B. C. turned a sunse flip by Ignition into a sit-down pin. Ignition was unable to escape C. B. C.'s girth and the 3-count made the title change official. Finally, after 3 hard fought matches, Cold Blooded Chris had captured his first Tag Team Championship in his near 8-year career.

3 was also a magic number for Max McGuirk, who became a Triple Crown Champion by adding the ComPro Tag Team Title to his resume. Two tag team champions and a singles Title make Max one of the most decorated wrestlers in the state at this point.

3 was also a significant number for C. B. C. a few years ago, as he had to win a Fatal 4-Way Match, a Triple Threat Match and a 1-on-1 Match to win the ComPro Oklahoma X Division Title from Shane Morbid. This would later allow C. B. C. to claim the distinction of being the first person to hold 2 different singles titles in ComPro when he later defeated the Canadian Red Devil for the ComPro Showtime Title.

3 may prove to be a magic number for the Saints of Twilight as rumour has it that they will invoke their rematch clause for the tag team titles at the ComPro show on March 12. If they are successful, it will be the third time they have held those titles together.
