News:
The last day Sting held the NWA World Heavyweight Title was on January 11, 1991 when he lost to Ric Flair. That means Sting went 15 years, 9 months and 11 days. That would round out to approximately 5510 days since he last held the belt. That?s the longest time span between title reigns in NWA history!
Believe it or not, Sting forgot to bring his white face paint with him to Plymouth, Michigan for Bound for Glory. TNA had people run to near by stores to try to find the paint, but was unsuccessful. Finally, a TNA official found an ICP fan who made a run to his car to loan the NWA champion his white face paint.
The NWA Hall of Fame announced their inductions for the 2006 class, which include the Rock-N-Roll Express and Saul Weingeroff, manager of the Continental Warriors and father of George Weingeroff.
The reason Jimmy Garvin quit the WWE creative team was because he didn?t like the travel schedule. He has signed a Legends deal.
Georgiann Makropolous (of http://www.wrestlingfigs.com) is reporting that ?Dr. Death? Steve Williams is now cancer free. He will be inducted into the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame next July. Williams also worked a match 2 weekends ago and is headed to Ohio Valley Wrestling on November 1st and then to Deep South Wrestling on the 6th of November. Then he is headed to St. Louis from the 14th - 19th to talk to High Schools and Churches.
The staff of Midway Games were in Orlando this past Monday, scanning TNA's roster for the upcoming debut TNA video game. TNA filmed a lot of crowd footage at last Tuesday's taping for the game as they specifically wanted to use the Impact Zone's crowd noise and chants for the game's audio. A lot of the wrestlers were shown A.J. Styles' video game renderings for the first time and were blown away. The level of detail was said to be so precise you could see a scar on Styles' lip that he suffered from a Samoa Joe bout.
WWE.com has an article online where Sgt. Slaughter, Dusty Rhodes and Roddy Piper give comments (some in character, some not) about possibly being Ric Flair's partner against the Spirit Squad at Cyber Sunday.
WWE released Tim Horner and Ted DiBiase from their agent positions on October 26. DiBiase will be going back to doing Ministry work and other speaking engagements on weekends, as well as plans on doing a wrestling school tour doing clinics on working matches, character development, promos, ring psychology, marketing oneself and telling a story in the ring. For booking info for DiBiase you can contact Bobby Riedel at UGottaBYourself@aol.com or call 631-242-5359 x329
After the 11/4 show in Philadelphia for Ring of Honor, Jim Cornette is taking two months off from wrestling for health reasons except he will be at the November and December TNA pay-per-view shows and TV tapings the next night. Cornette wasn't booked for television last Tuesday in Orlando, so if he makes any appearances on the show the next two weeks, they would have been taped in Detroit. Cornette has been working every date he had been booked even though he was sick as a dog dating back to the first week of September and shouldn't have been doing it, and felt bad about his inability to perform up to the expected levels at the TNA PPV because he had no voice.
Tracy Smothers was ordered to undergo a mental evaluation regarding charges of harassing his girlfriend with threats. Smothers was said to be in a good mood Thursday and worked a show. The case was continued until 11/2. Smothers speaks on Tuesday?s Trash Talking Show. Visit http://www.trashtalkingradio.com for more information.
Jakks Pacific has issued preview images of their 7th Classic 3-packs, which include figures of Paul Bearer and Cactus Jack.
Prince al-Farat & Tim WarCloud were crowned the new Western Alliance Entertainment Tag Team Champions this past weekend in Phoenix, AZ. Farat will be taking part of a W.W.R. Heavyweight Title Tournment entitled, "Noche de Torneo" along with 12 other stars to crown a new W.W.R. Champ on Nov. 25th in Puerto Rico.
Oklafan sends its thoughts and prayers to Paul Bearer, as his brother passed away Saturday. His wife Dianne has again been diagnosed with breast cancer and is facing another mastectomy.
Paul Linam made an appearance on a commercial shown in the Tulsa area during ?Friday Night Smackdown?. He was promoting the new CW network.
Mike Iles returned to the wrestling world, doing ring announcing and play-by-play for the NWA-U Television tapings Saturday, October 28 in Tahlequah. Iles was joined at the broadcast table by Oklafan owner and senior editor, C.M. Burnham. Negotiations are still on to determine where and when the show will be broadcast.
