Bill Decker, MSWA Referee, Dead at 55
Posted: Feb 7th 2011 By: CMBurnham
Oklafan was saddened to learn that former MSWA referee "American" Bill Decker had passed away. He had been 55 years old and had recently been battling cancer.
Decker was familiar to many fans at the MSWA shows as a referee, but what made him stand out was his patriotic gear, causing him to resemble Uncle Sam to an extent. In addition to the flag-themed baggy pants, Decker would also come the ring in a large Uncle Sam-style hat which flashed red, white & blue lights.
Decker served as a referee until the second half of 2010 when his physical condition prevented him from returning. He would make sporadic appearances at the shows after that in the crowd, just to be around the business which made him happy.
Besides serving as a referee, Decker also maintained the MSWA website and when not refereeing matches, he could be seen at ringside taking pictures of the action to post on there.
In addition to working for MSWA, Decker also refereed matches for CXW and UWF06.
According to a post on Decker's Facebook page, funeral Services will be Friday, February 11, at 10:00 AM at the John Irland Funeral Home in Moore, Ok. There will be graveside services in Savanna, Ok at 2:30 pm on Friday afternoon.
Oklafan extends its condolensces to Decker's family and friends at this time.
