Nemesis Reborn!

Nemesis Reborn!

Posted: Dec 16th 2010 By: CMBurnham

SWCW fans thought it was over.

Back in March, current MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champion Damon Windsor defeated current SWCW Hardcore Champion Damien Morte in a match which saw the end of Nemesis. At the time of the match, it was announced that if Windsor won, Nemesis would be disbanded forever. And with most of the membership on the outs with each other or gone from SWCW, that seemed to be the logical strategy by Windsor. Take SWCW's most powerful faction and let it rest.

But as soon as the story was broken on Oklafan, protests arose. Most of those came from SWCW Cruiserweight & MSWA Mid-South Tag Team Champion Rage Logan, who said that he owned the trademark to Nemesis and that only he could decide when it was truly over. Nothing came of that announcement, but Rage always knew that if neccessity arose, he could call the band back together.

And that's what happened this past Saturday night. For the past couple of shows, Logan has seemed interested in putting his Cruiserweight Title up against SWCW All-American Champion David Kyzer's title. They were supposed to face each other in a Title-vs-Title match on December 4, but that show got cancelled due to a conflict with the building. Logan dodges the bullet here by claiming the contract was only good for December 4th and since it was December 11th, there would be no unification match. Kyzer went on to face Rick Russo, but the fans hadn't seen the end of Logan that night.

Later, SWCW ring announcer Milton Winkelman told the crowd that SWCW Tag Team Champions Bleach, Ink would be putting their titles on the line in a match where, if they were DQed, they would be stripped of the gold. Their opponents were supposed to be Crisstopher Crow & Damon Windsor, but when Windsor hobbled his way to the ring, it was immediately apparent why he couldn't compete that night. After explaining that he broke his foot during training that week, Windsor said that he always made sure to put a "Nemesis" clause into tag team matches involving their alumni. That clause allows one member of Nemesis to substitute for another and since he couldn't compete, he had gotten on the phone and made a special phone call. At that point, the distinctive "gun cock" sound rang through the arena and IZW Tag Team & MSWA Oklahoma Champion Xavior strode to the ring. Crow certainly looked forward to ending the year the way he began it, as SWCW Tag Team Champion, but things didn't look too good for him as Draven Cross hoisted him up for Bleach, Ink's finisher. Lady Starwind grabbed the belt and hit Crow in the head, but referee George Knight saw this and DQed the champions. Xavior grabbed the belts from the table and took one to Crow, celebrating what they thought was their championship victory. That turned out to be a mistake as SWCW Commissioner Shawn McKeaigg reminded them that the stipulation said the belts would be held up. Despite that, Nemesis, now joined by Rage Logan, continued to celebrate until Korvin Sage took the microphone and told Logan that he never should have stuck his nose in Bleach, Ink's business. Sage called McKeaigg over and demanded that Logan put his Cruiserweight Title on the line against him. He then dug the knife in deeply as he reminded Logan how he was responsible for putting him out of action for several months and he'd be glad to do it again.

McKeaigg made the match official and said it would take place after intermission. These two have fought each other so many times they could probably do so blindfolded and still put on an amazing aerial match. But Logan seemed to be coming out the victor and that was something that Draven Cross couldn't allow. When Logan had Sage covered, he reached in and grabbed Logan, yanking him out of the ring and earning the DQ. Sage grabbed a chair and slid it over Logan's foot, but before he could inflict the damage he was hoping for, Xavior & Criss Crow ran to the rescue. In retaliation, X & Crow took chairs and slid Sage's leg and Cross' arm into them, then stomped on them repeatedly to send their message. All three men then left, but again, there was one more stop to be made.

That stop came when Damien Morte challenged Kevin James Sanchez for the SWCW Hardcore match. Lots of various "weapons" were used including an oar (which Sanchez broke on Morte's posterior) and a bathroom plunger. Even a chair was demolished when Morte reversed a Urinagi suplex into a DDT on it. But after the ring was littered with plunder, the real match happened. Sanchez went for a superkick and connected on Morte, but upon going for the pin, Rage Logan hit the ring. This was odd, as Logan & Morte have had little to do with each other after their outstanding TLC/6-Sides of Sickness match for the SWCW Cruiserweight Title. Sanchez now had a 2-on-1 situation, combined with the deadliness of the weapon. It was a situation that he was destined to lose. Logan took a chair and swung it at Sanchez, but Kevin ducked and went to superkick Logan. Logan sidestepped that and took out Sanchez's knee, then chokeslammed him on the chair he had brought in the ring. Logan then pulled Morte's prone body over on top of Sanchez and waited for the referee to count 3. They atmosphere changed at that point to a HUGE celebration as Nemesis, now complete with all members and 2 new titles under its control. And standing beside them ready to manipulate the suystem is Shawn McKeaigg, whose dispicable actions wiill be addressed in a future column.

The expansion of Nemesis didn't stop at SWCW as Morte & Crow teamed as Nemesis to face Tyson Jaymes & Rick Russo the next day. Morte & Crow scored a win to impress the new management and chalked up a win for the faction. Also, Logan & Morte appear to be planning on bringin Nemesis back to IZW. When that happens, it will be posted here. No matter where they are, though, Nemesis poses a huge problem of safety and concern by some of the people who travel through this area regularly.
