Hometown Hero Makes Lasting Impression In First Show

Mounds native Jake O'Brien returned to his hometown Friday night and ended up making it a night neither he nor his valet Maggie Rae would ever forget.
MERC ran its first event at the Mounds Community building. The last time Mounds had hosted wrestling was in 2005 when SRPW came to town. O'Brien had been at that show, but not as a participant. This time, he came prepared to defend the honour of his home town from the forces of the Foundation.
The Foundation began the show with representative Robbie Awesome capturing his first title, the MERC Patriot Championship. There was a huge celebration after the match as Awesome ran down Mounds until O'Brien could stand no more. A brief beat down by the Foundation on Awesome was followed by a comeback by the hometown boy, who drove all the members from the ring and said they were all on his list. Although Awesome had already competed that night and J. B. Varsity had a scheduled opponent, Kyle Everlast was available and O'Brien chose him to face in the main event.
Everlast felt certain he could handle the situation himself, but Awesome accompanied him out in the main event. O'Brien countered this by bringing his valet/girlfriend Maggie Rae to ringside as encouragement. Despite an attempt to work together, the Foundation crumbled when Awesome hopped up on the apron and O'Brien shoved Everlast into him, then hit a Death Valley Driver on Everlast, followed by a splash from the 2nd rope for the win. Awesome tried to gain some post-match revenge, but was met with his own DVD for his efforts.
After clearing the ring of the trash, O'Brien called Maggie Rae in and proposed to her in the middle of the ring surrounded by his hometown associates.
MERC management noted that the show was successful enough that the company is considering making monthly ventures to Mounds.
