Steel Chair Factors In To Morgan's, Xavior's Professional Outings

Steel Chair Factors In To Morgan's, Xavior's Professional Outings

The relationship between IZW Tag Team Champions Kevin Morgan and MSWA Oklahoma Champion Xavior has been one of many ups and downs. Journeying together through their early days as The New Varsity Club, they split apart and feuded with each other, most recently over the Oklahoma Title. Now, it's like two different realities exist for them as they are tag team champions in one town and bitterest of enemies in another.

At Halloween Hangover, Awesome X finally captured the IZW Team Titles by defeating Arrogant Money and champions Aerial Assault for the belts in a Triple Threat Match. This past Saturday, Morgan and Xavior made thier first title defence against Randy Price and Austin Tacious. This was set up in part by IZW Co-commissioner Johnny Z, who wanted to how fellow co-commissioner Sam Helton who the boss wasy. He said that Aerial Assault were probably expecting to receive a rematch for the titles, but he had anticipated that request and put both of them in singles matches that night. This left Awesome X forced to defend against Arrogant Money and things took a turn for the worse as Kevin Morgan suffered a minor knee injury during the match. It wasn't enough for them to stop the match, but it did put him at a disadvantage. Despite that injury and fighting from behind, Awesome X looked to be rallying with Morgan in the ring after having made the tag team an exhausted Xavior and cleaning house. But when Morgan turned to flex for the camera, Jordan Jacobs (who Johnny Z had been talking to earlier) came to the ring to deliver a message. That message was simply, "Don't forget about me!" and Jacobs connected with the Hate-Crime Kick on Morgan's face. Austin Tacious then connected with the Codebreaker and covered the fallen champion. 3 seconds later, there were new tag team champions for IZW in the form of Arrogant Money.

Price & Tacious' celebration was short-lived as Sam Helton arrived at the top of the rampway. He said that he saw on the monitors in the back what happened in the ring. IZW policy forbid him from overturning the decision, so Sam decided to invoke Awesome X's rematch clause immediately (perhaps before co-Commissioner & MSWA Mid-South Champion Johnny Z could interfere). Awesome X wasted no time in putting a beating on the members of Arrogant Money. Jordan Jocabs (who had remained at ringside in order to provide encouragent for his fellow Impact, Inc. members) grabbed Steve O's chair from the ringside table. He then summoned courage and wait until just the right moment, when he could swing the chair up and his one of the Awesome X members with it while the referee was busy. That plan was almost perfect, but failed due to Xavior reversing an irish whip causing Austin Tacious to be the recipient of the unexpected chair shot. Morgan quickly disposed of Jacobs, but then had his knee clipped by Rany Price. This made it almost impossible for Morgan to reverse Price's butterfly-powerbomb combination, but he turned it into a powerslam and got a 3-count from referee Mark Wilson, ending Arrogant Money's 3rd IZW Tag Title reign at about 10 minutes.

The steel chair would also be instrumental in Morgan & Xavior's relationship in MSWA. Although they're partners in IZW, they are hated enemies in MSWA. Two weeks ago, commissioner Shawn McKeaigg had announced that he was putting Xavior on Impact, Inc's team against Kevin Morgan, Dustin Daniels and Charlie Haas. But a spanner was thrown in those works when Haas did not arrive for the show. Morgan and Daniels were very worried about the main event and came out to confront McKeaigg and the rest of Impact, Inc. in the ring at the beginning of the MSWA show Sunday. McKeaigg told Morgan and the crowd that Haas had been booked on a flight from Europe where he had been on tour, but the flight had layovers in Seattle, Denver, Chicago, St. Paul, Charlotte, Orlando, and Dallas. With a wicked smile on his face and overwhelming sarcasm in his voice, he said that he couldn't possibly understand why Haas wasn't there, but the FACT of the matter was that he was probably not showing up. An irritated Morgan said that he actually expected nothing less than this, but McKeaigg said he had more in store. He had some changes to make in the main event. He was removing Xavior from Impact, Inc's team and replacing him with Bernie D. This put all 3 members of Johnny Z's team as members of Impact, Inc. In place of Haas, McKeaigg put the recently ousted Xavior! Morgan and Daniels began to pace the ring as they realised that they had just been thrown into, essentially, a handicap match as there was no way that Xavior was going to cooperate with them.

And it certainly seemed like Morgan's fears were correct. Even with the announcement that MSWA owner Bad Boy was appointing himself the special guest referee (over McKeaigg's protests), things still looked very bad for the fan favourites in the match. And when Daniels tried to tag Xavior early in the match, the fears appeared to be proven true as Xavior refused the tag, backed down the ring steps and went back to the locker area. This made it 2-on-3, but Morgan and Daniels did everything they could to pull out a win. There were plenty of big spots in the match, including Bad Boy climbing to the top rope and performing a plancha onto the other performers in the match, all of whom had been brawling on their own. Morgan rolled himself back into the ring after that moment, closely followed by Johnny Z. Morgan, despite his injured knee, was able to hoist Johnny up for a spinebuster and this brought Xavior back out to the match. He quickly ran and stood in Morgan's corner, but when Morgan tagged him, he again started to back down the stairs. But after a moment's second thoughts, he entered the ringand proceded to clean house on the Impact, Inc. members. A perfectly executed double team move resulted in a win for Morgan's team, but they got no chance to celebrate right then as Jordan Jacobs and IZW Champion Jermaine Johnson hit the ring, beating on Morgan and Daniels. Xavior again left the ring and walked to the curtains, but hesitated upon reaching them. He then turned around and ran back into the ring, clearing all the Impact, Inc. members away. After ducking outside quickly to grab a steel chair, Xavior reentered the ring and stood back-to-back with Morgan. As soon as the become aware of each other's presence, Morgan and Xavior turn and see each other and Xavior almost takes a swing at Morgan. But he pulled up way short and instead there was a brief staring contest between the men. Xavior then lowered the chair and Morgan turned to signal the fans that everything was OK.

And that was when Xavior pulled the chair back up and slammed it into Morgan's head.

Xavior took a brief moment to stand over Morgan as his music played. He then left a satisfied man. Kevin Morgan had to be helped from the ring. This proved that he wasn't undefeatable, as long as Xavior could find the right tactic. With two men such as these, who know each other's tactics, the war looks like it could be taking a turn for the worse. Xavior has the Oklahoma Title that Morgan wants back around his waist. Johnny Z still has the Mid-South Title as well and Morgan has shown interest in that item as well. For a team that has so much going for it down in Lawton, things are in a different reality in MSWA. Morgan can only hope that things continue to go well for him (at least as far as the tag team titles in Lawton go) If there is any dissention, it might start to foster during the weeks off. And that can only lead to bad results for this dynamic team.
