News:
- WWE Smackdown head writer Alex Greenfield notified WWE that he was leaving the company effective October 4th. Veteran Michael Hayes will be replacing Greenfield and will be reporting directly to Stephanie McMahon-Levesque once she comes back from her leave. Greenfield became the lead writer for the show when David Lagana - who was heading creative at the time - was moved to write ECW with Paul Heyman. Greenfield will be moving to Los Angeles where he will be working on several Hollywood projects. He has been employed by WWE since 2005.

- WWE.com has changed the name of the male stripper who appeared on ECW and in the Jim Ross exclusive clip last week (as well as after the RAW cameras stopped rolling on September 25th) from "University of Oregon supporter" to "Big Dick Johnson".

- Reports are circulating that Jim Ross is not expected to sign a new contract when his deal is up and the end of the month. He is scheduled to stay on as the lead announcer for Raw but will work on a week to week basis.

- The final TV ratings for "ECW on SciFi" live from Tulsa came in at a 1.82 cable rating and 2.02 million viewers.

- Speaking of Taylor, he had been pushing for TNA to rehire Vince Russo.

- Jim Cornette stated that he would not work with Vince Russo. Cornette will not take any direction from him and wants zero interaction with the man.

- It is said that with the return of Vince Russo to the creative team, the chances of TNA bringing in Bill Goldberg have gone down, according to The Wrestling Observer. Negotiations have not gone well, as Goldberg is seeking huge money. Apparently, TNA has offered Goldberg the "Sting deal," but he hasn't shown much interest in it.

- The only people in TNA that knew about the Kurt Angle signing were president Dixie Carter, Jeff Jarrett, and the company's CFO. Announcers Mike Tenay and Don West learned that Angle was the major announcement the day of the "No Surrender" PPV. Prior to signing Angle, TNA considered names like Goldberg, Chris Jericho, Brock Lesnar as the major announcement.

- Names being considered for Kurt Angle's first TNA program include Sting and Samoa Joe.

- Sting was asked to work the TNA Monterrey, Mexico show on October 25th, but turned it down.

- Speaking of Sting, TNA management has decided to offer Sting the same contract for 2007, which according to reports, was valued at a cool $500,000. It will be interesting to find out if Spike TV has once again offered to help fund the contract on the heels of TNA signing Kurt Angle to his lucrative deal.

- Don't forget that "Sting: Return of an Icon" is scheduled to be released on DVD at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and FYE stores nationwide this Tuesday, October 10th.

Gayda incidently is currently pregnant with her and Charlie's first child and the photo shoot obviously took place before the pregnancy. The film also took home the "Best Horror Film" award at the festival.

- William DeCoff (formerly known as Sean O'Reilly) has a part in the upcoming TV movie "The Way". He will also play a police officer in "Gone, Baby, Gone" which is in post-production and should be released in 2007. He is now currently filming "Underdog".

- Local physician Dr. Guy Baldwin died in a plane crash in Tucumcarie, NM during an air show in which he was performing loop maneuvers and other stunts. In addition to doing aviation physicals for would-be pilots in Tulsa, Baldwin also performed the required physicals for several pro wrestlers in the Tulsa area as well. Baldwin's friend and clinic partner Dr. William "Ronnie" Barnes, who was also an avid pilot, was killed in a plane crash in Owasso in July. Oklafan sends their condolences to family and friends of Dr. Baldwin.

- Several calls were received at the Oklafan offices this past weekend reporting that former World Wrestling Empire star Shane Cortez had passed away at his home in Wichita, KS. We called former Empire owner "Flamon Raymon" Downey to follow up on the reports. He had heard the same report from his nephew Tim Rockwell. Downey followed up by calling some of Cortez's relatives and found out that the rumor was false and Cortez is fine and had relocated from Wichita to Kentucky a few months back.

- Finally, in closing this week's Oklahoma Scoop, we here at Oklafan have to bid a fond farewell to one of of our own. Associate editor Mike Iles is leaving the staff of Oklafan because he has been promoted to manager at his regular place of employment. Mike has been an integral member of the staff and was extremely helpful in assisting to get the current version of Oklafan up and running by adding so many of the Wrestler Bios, as well as transferring info from the old version of the site to the current. He also added several of the Quiz Questions you see on the site. So long Mike. Thanks for all the help, and maybe someday down the road we will see you at ringside again.
