Mexecutioners Declare War On Texas Outlaws

Almost 180 years ago, the end of the Texas Revolution brought about a major loss of territory for the country of Mexico. Texas temporarily became an independent country and Mexico later went to war with the United States over who actually controlled that large portion of land.

At that time, the Mexicans were considered the bad guys, while the American forces who held the Alamo, together with the Tejanos who assisted them, were the proud defenders of freedom and all that was right.

Funny how things have changed so many years later.

Despite it now being 2010, there are still issues between Texas and Mexico. And most recently, those issues have revolved around the teams known as the Texas Outlaws and the Mexecutioners.

These two teams first met in TAP, where the Texas Outlaws held the TAP Tag Team Titles. Bobby Burns and J. W. Harding believed that they had an easy future ahead of them as there were no established tag teams to challenge for their belts. But when TAP moved from Muskogee to Wagoner, that brought them to the area of Ray Martinez & ComPro Tag Team Champion Jesus Rodriguez. The Mexecutioners stepped forward and challenged the veteran champions, upending them for the belts in what many considered a surprise outcome. The next month, what was supposed to be a rematch for the belts took a bit of a different twist as J. W. Hardin was unable to be at the show and Bobby Burns substituted a newcomer known as Mr. Big. Again, despite the overwhelming size difference, the Mexecutioners reigned triumphant, but due to actions on the part of both teams, they were suspended for 60 days. This led to the champions being stripped of their belts and many believed that the war was over before it began. They couldn't have been more wrong.

The war simply made its way to a different front as both teams were scheduled to compete at the inaugural Oklahoma TV taping for MSPW, a federation that so far had run cards only in Arkansas. Jesus found himself facing newcomer Chris Morisson early in the show. But as the match went on, the Outlaws appeared, strolling cockily around the ring and yelling things like "Taco Breath" towards Jesus and his valet, Selena. This caused enough of a distraction that Morisson was able to roll Rodriguez up and score the win with the help of a handful of tights. Score one for the Outlaws without ever having to step in the ring.

Later on the show, Martinez was in to face off against Brandon Walker. An interesting history exists between these two. Although Walker is not part of the Texas Outlaws, he is from Garland, TX, so the rivalry did continue. Also, when Martinez first made his way into ComPro, he attempted to recruit Walker (who at that time was competing under a mask as El Super Colibri) into La M. But Walker refused and never saw eye-to-eye with Martinez. Now was an opportunity to take out some of those frustrations that had been building since 2008. But once again, the Texas Outlaws felt compelled to make their presence known and while they didn't directly interfere in the match, they caused enough of a distraction to take Martinez's mind off the events and allow Walker to hit the "Defemation of Character" to get the win.

During the intermission prior to the last two matches, Martinez & Jesus met backstage with the MSPW matchmakers and demanded that they be allowed to face the Outlaws in a tag team match as the main event for the evening. The matchmakers agreed and the main event was set. Both teams certainly had their game faces on as they made their way to the ring. Burns & Hardin brought all their typical underhanded tactics with them while Martinez & Rodriguez fought for the fans, feeding off the energy of the crowd. And it seemed like everything was working out for them as the Outlaws got upset with referee Jay Hollywood, eventually getting physical with him. Hollywood signalled for a DQ, but the Mexecutioners wanted to put the exclamation point on the proceedings and dropkicked both the big Texans out of the ring. The referee then threw the entire match out, declaring it a Double DQ.

The Outlaws beat a hasty retreat, but Ray Martinez demanded the microphone and told the crowd that he swore he would get his hands on the Outlaws and finish the job. He closed things out by reminding them that the Mexecutioners were sorcerers in the ring and they would find a way to teach some old dogs new tricks.

So, nothing was settled and the war wages on. While MSPW has not officially announced a return date for the next set of tapings, talks are in the works. And it seems quite likely that if and when that date does occur. Martinez & Rodriguez will be waiting to deal the hand the Outlaws their own personal version of the Alamo. And this time, the American people (or at least the Oklahoma fans) will be happy to see it.
