Nexus' Domination Plans Spoiled by CeNation

Nexus' Domination Plans Spoiled by CeNation

Posted: Jul 23rd 2010 By: CMBurnham

The Nexus has arrived.

For weeks, the 7 combatants who made it through WWE NXT have done everything they can to make an immediate impact in the company. They stormed the ring, attacked wrestlers, announcers and even WWE owner Vince McMahon. They've stood united and shown no mercy.

At the WWE Money In The Bank PPV, The Nexus ruined John Cena's plan to regain the WWE RAW World Title from Sheamus by sliding under him and preventing him from reaching the floor of the arena first after going over the top of the cage.

The next night, the Nexus took another step in their intended domination of the WWE by coming out during an arguement between Chris Jericho and Edge. Both men had just competed in a Triple Threat Match to determine who would receive a WWE RAW World Title match at SummerSlam. That match was won by Randy Orton. Jericho and Edge were standing in the ring, bringing up old history when the Nexus arrived in full force. Wade Barrett, who has assumed the mantle of group spokesman, told both men that they are respected and future Hall of Famers. He said his group would be lucky to have either as an ally. But as those words came out of his mouth, Barrett and his group surrounded Edge. They said that Chris Jericho's earlier assertion that the Nexus' success was in part due to him was correct. And Barrett said that they would end Edge's career if they were to target him. At that point, all members of the Nexus joined up in an attack on Edge. Skip Sheffield even dished out a bit of irony by putting Edge down with his own finishing move, the Spear. Jericho then moved in and applied the Walls of Jericho to the fallen "Rated R Superstar", but while doing so, Nexus began to stare hard at Jericho. Barrett again spoke up and said that Edge was correct when he pointed out that they would like to shut the mouth of the person who was claiming success for Nexus. Jericho tried to make a proactive attack, but the odds were just too great. David Otunga put Jericho down with a vicious spinebuster and the group, their damage done, made their way to the back, leaving the fallen pair behind.

Cameras followed Nexus backstage where Josh Matthews cautiously tried to get an interview with Barrett. He said that Nexus was now the most powerful group in the WWE, but that many questioned whether any member could compete individually with the World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry. Barrett said that Henry was just like everyone else in the WWE: quaking in his boots. He was prepared to write a new chapter in WWE history and it wasn't going to end well for Mark Henry. At that point, Sheamus appeared and told Barrett there was a proposal he'd like to discuss with Barrett.

Silent until this time was John Cena, who then appeared on camera and said he had brought all this on himself. He was offered a handshake two weeks ago by Barrett and refused because he thought he could stop them. He then publicly acknowledged that he couldn't do that. After watching Nexus destroy Jericho and Edge in the ring, just because they could, Cena announced that he wanted to meet Nexus in the ring. They had made his life miserable and cost him everything. So, in the words of the famous saying, "If you can't beat them...", but Cena stopped speaking at that point and walked off camera, leaving everyone to speculate on the rest.

Barrett was scheduled for a match with Mark Henry and won that match with a Samoan Drop, although the move ended up injuring Henry and preventing him from appearing the next night at the WWE Smackdown & NXT Tapings. Nexus appeared on the rampway halfway through the match, but did nothing to interfere. After the match was over, they made their way to the ring and Barrett issued a challenge for John Cena to come to the ring. Otunga saidthat ever since they came to RAW, they intended to make an impact their way. The did that at Money In The Bank and showed a replay of how their actions prevented Cena from winning. Michael Tarver then spoke up and said 1 truce had already been made, apparently referring to one between themselves and Sheamus, which the RAW World Champion had alluded to earlier. He gave his word that they would hear Cena out if Cena would acknowledge that Nexus ran RAW. If Cena resisted, Nexus would make his career pitiful. He also demanded that Cena show remorse for his attack on Darren Young and himself with the steel steps at MITB. If that happened, maybe Nexus would consider ending all this. But it all rested on Cena's head.

At that point, John Cena arrived to a thunderous ovation. He calmly walked to the ring, betraying no emotion on his face. He thanked Nexus for meeting himand said that ever since they had arrived, he'd had two WWE RAW World Title matches and had lost both. The first one, he lost his title due to their interference. The second one saw them preventing him from regaining the belt. He also mentioned the truce that Sheamus had made and said he should have done the same thing a long time ago. Barrett told Cena that a truce wasn't going to happen because he wasn't looking for peace. He wanted something bigger. He wanted John Cena to join Nexus. He told Cena that he could have 10 times the success he'd experienced so far by joining them and said that Nexus was the present and future of the company. Together they would be unstoppable, so in his mind there really wasn't much choice. Cena was either with Nexus or against them.

John Cena paused for a moment, then said that he couldn't do that. Barrett replied that that was unfortunate and that now he had two choices: he could leave the ring like a coward or stay and receive the beating of a lifetime. In what seemed like a shocking move, Cena exited the ring and began to walk up the runway to the entrance. But he stopped and grabbed a microphone that was there, then turned back and told Barrett he had one more thing to say. He promised all the fans present and watching on TV that if he had to do it himself or if he had help, he would take them all down. He then revealed that the peace offering was a test and that in truth, he'd been assembling a a team for quite a while to help take Nexus down. At this point, Cena began to reveal that team and each member made his way to the ring: Edge, John Morrison, R-Truth, The Great Kahli and Chris Jericho.

But the surprise of the night was the revelation of the final member of the CeNation: Bret Hart!! As Bret's music played, the crowd erupted in an ovation and the "Hit Man" made his way to the ring. Standing together just like their opponents, Cena's forces ran to the ring, but Nexus quickly slithered out and ran up the stands to get away.

Nexus made one final appearance in the night, interfering in the Post-show WWE RAW World Title match between John Cena and Sheamus. Cena had Sheamus locked in the STF when Nexus reappeared and attacked Cena. But the CeNation quickly came to the rescue and all of Nexus escaped except Heath Slater. With Cena, Kahli and Bret Hart in the ring, Slater found himself with nowhere to go and tried to prepare himself for the inevitable attack. Kahli delivered a thunderous Big Boot, Cena connected with the Attitude Adjustment and Bret Hart finished things off by putting Slater in the Sharpshooter. After gaining their measure of revenge, Cena threw Slater from the ring like garbage and celebrated with the crowd.

The formation of the CeNation evens the playing field and although it hasn't officially been announced, a 7-on-7 Tag Team War can probably be expected to happen at SummerSlam. The question on many fans' minds is: Can all of the CeNation be trusted? Jericho and Edge were unable to co-operate earlier in the show and neither man is exactly on friendly terms with Cena. Also, Morisson has an issue with Ted DiBiase, Jr. that is brewing as well. Hopefully, the CeNation can realise that they need to set their personal differences aside and compete as one for the good of the WWE.
