Pro Wrestling Star Seeking To Win Oprah's Search

(Largo, FL) - He was known to the world as "Leaping" Lanny Poffo, Lanny "the Genius" Poffo, wrestling's "Poet Laureate," the son of the late wrestling promoter and legend, Angelo Poffo, and as the brother of Randy "Macho Man" Savage.

Now, Lanny Poffo wants to be known as the man who hosts his own TV program by winning the "Oprah Search" presented by Oprah Winfrey.

"Your OWN Show: Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star" is a competition series that will premiere on OWN, Oprah Winfrey's new network, in 2011. The winner of the series will host their own talk show produced for OWN.

You can vote until 11:59 p.m. PST on July 3, 2010.

As a pioneer in wrestling and before it was popular to do so, Lanny Poffo took to the air in the "squared circle" using his muscular and agile body to walk on the ring ropes, perform moonsaults, and highlight his victories with amazing back flips.

He reached a pinnacle of popularity in the pro-wrestling business in 1989 in the WWE when he defeated Hulk Hogan after "Mr. Perfect" hit Hogan with the championship belt; that led to an appearance on the nationally syndicated "Regis" show.

The other side of Lanny Poffo is a man who has written poetry for decades and succeeded in having his writings published in several books.

"When I found out that Oprah was looking for a new talk show host," stated Lanny, "I decided to enter this contest. With almost 10,000 other video entries, I know that the odds are tough.
