Tyler Bateman Trashes Tri-State Title; Sets Eyes on Ryan Davidson and other Gold.

MSWA Cruiserweight Champion Tyler Bateman added another title to his holdings Sunday when he defeated AWOL for the MSWA Tri-State Championship. But apparently this was unsatisfying to the "Action City Saint" as, shortly after winning the title, he threw the belt in the trash can and walked away.

Bateman's win made him a 4-time MSWA Tri-State Champion. Most recently, he defeated fellow Old School Assassin member John O'Malley in a Last Man Standing match to win the title back in July of 2005. He would hold the title until October when he lost it to the Lone Shining Star.

Although Bateman had no interest in holding the championship with the longest history in Oklahoma, that didn't mean he's not looking at adding more championship gold to his waist. At the end of the show Sunday, Bateman and Brad Michaels attacked MSWA Mid-South Champion Ryan Davidson. While this was done in part as revenge for Davidson leaving the OSA, this reporter also believes that a clear message was being sent that Bateman and Michaels are targeting that Championship and looking to add it to their stable.

Bateman and Davidson have also been feuding down in IZW since February. Davidson defeated Bateman for the Impact Division title then, but the next 2 meetings between these competitors were inconclusive, so IZW officials ordered the title held up and a Best-of-5 series would be held to determine the champion. That series is currently tied at 2 each, with the final match to be held September 16 in a steel cage.
