Bolo's Return Overshadowed By Saints of Twilight
Posted: Apr 15th 2010 By: CMBurnham
In July, 2009 , The Greatest American Bolo arrived in ComPro?and promptly disappeared. Long established as one of the most hated individuals in the federation, the Greatest Bolo had a change of heart and mended his evil ways, adjusting his name and becoming a patriotic star. But that star seemed to burn out just as quickly as it rose and the one-time appearance led to many questions about the masked star?s fate. Those questions were answered when GAB returned for ComPro?s final event on March 13, participating in the Gauntlet Battle Royal for the Any Time/Anywhere contract that was won by TAP Adrenaline Champion Richie Adams. Oklafan had a chance to speak to GAB during intermission at that show and he let us know that he had intentions of returning to the ring regularly for TAP.
On March 26, those intentions were followed through on as GAB received a title shot against TAP Champion Reckless. Bolo was accompanied by Sensei Bolo, which helped counter the presence of Ignition and Michael York at ringside for the champion as well as the No DQ stipulation that TAP commissioner J. P. Steele invoked right before the match began. Some ring rust was obvious in GAB?s performance, but he put up a strong effort, more so than many people probably expected. Unfortunately the odds were stacked too heavily in the champions? favour and GAB found himself on the losing end. But things didn?t stop there as the Saints of Twilight took a steel chair and positioned it over the neck of GAB. As one of the Saints prepared to come stomping down on the chair, potentially crushing the larynx of the masked challenger and ending his career (if not worse), The Canadian Red Devil came to GAB?s rescue. CRD had experienced problems of his own during his match with Ignition and could not stand to see the numbers game played against his fellow competitor. Frustrated beyond any normal level, CRD grabbed Sensei?s kendo stick and whalloped the SOT?s, York and J. P. The hits on York and J. P. resounded at such a level that it whipped the crowd into a frenzy and they called for more strikes. CRD lashed out as many times as he could and the backs of his victims radiated the same colour as his distinctive mask. By intermission, the damage was still obvious, but commissioner Steele endured it to come and ask TAP ringside commentator C. M. Burnham to tell the crowd that at the next show, the Saints of Twilight would reunite for the first time in almost 5 months and take on the team of the Greatest American Bolo and The Canadian Red Devil.
When TAP returned to Wagoner, fans witnessed Michael York come to the ring before the show began and take a seat in the ring. As the show started, J. P. Steele asked York what the problem was. York said that he wanted a match against one of the men who had hurt him at the last show. CRD, GAB and Sensei Bolo came out and York chose Sensei as his opponent. It wasn?t the best of times for York as he was schoolboyed while he was busy arguing with CRD & GAB and pinned in about 5 seconds. The fans found this hilarious, but the repercussions would reach all the way to the main event.
That main event brought the Saints of Twilight and their popular masked opponents out. CRD & GAB succeeded with a flurry of opposition at the beginning before GAB was isolated. Ignition and Reckless began to work GAB over, connecting with double team moves and illegally switching, taking advantage of the FACT that they are twins to confuse referee Chance Snodgrass. Also, with Michael York at ringside, some additional damage could be done when he would interfere on behalf of the dark duo. But eventually, GAB tagged in CRD and the Devil came in with a determination to end the match and pick up a victory. That looked like it was on its way when CRD locked Ignition in the Sharpshooter. GAB jumped in to neutralize Michael York. But the referee was preoccupied with Sensei Bolo and didn?t see Ignition tap out. Michael York grabbed Sensei?s kendo stick, entered the ring and hit CRD just about as hard as he had hit York two weeks previously. Ignition then turned the submission hold over into a pinning predicament. Snodgrass turned around and counted the pin, giving the Saints of Twilight the victory. York was elated, the Saints cockily stood with him and the masked threesome couldn?t believe that this had happened.
But, as always, the Devil had a plan. He told C. M. Burnham to announce that he wanted Michael York at the next show and he wanted him in the first match. York and Devil have had a long-standing on and off issue with each other, dating back to the FACT that 4 years ago, York won his first title (The TPW Light Heavyweight Title) by defeating the Devil. York seemed to have no problem with this challenge and accepted with a smile on his face. So far it seems that York, the Saints and commissioner J. P., Steele have managed to make everything they want happen for themselves. If the Devil is going to pull a fast one on York, he?d better have a doozy of a plan. But it seems he's made a strong friend in the form of the Greatest American Bolo and will be able to count on him in future confrontations with York and his dastardly duo.
